With his sister occupied, Ragnar wandered away. A cup of rum in hand, he began looking for the most exotic woman present.

"They do fairly well," the man allows. "The women are so easy it almost takes the fun right out of it, though. Not everything needs to come already bought and paid for. Makes'em weak." He looks to Killion. "I imagine you don't suffer from that particular vice."

He strode up to her and spoke in the Common Tongue of Westeros, hoping she would understand him since he had no other languages. "Lady, I am enchanted. I am Lord Drumm. Will you have a drink with me?"

"Oh, you know how it is," she said with a shrug. "We raid and pillage, our thralls work, women bear children. Life goes on. As for me, well, I sail the sea and do what I can to honour the Drowned God. We are not a restful people. truly." "Really? Yet you speak as if it is a rather dull life isn't it? Raiding villagers with no weapons, stealing away the prettiest, or handsome in your case?" Uhtred laughs "Is there any real fighting?"

"of course there is," she said. "If the people we raid are bold enough to put up a fight. It's a good life, but I must assure you that I do not steal away greenlander men. Those men are too soft and too weak to put their cocks in me. I want no man inside me who is not Ironborn."

He looks to Killion. "I imagine you don't suffer from that particular vice." "Hailing from a land that only breeds the strong, I have long since stopped expecting anything but weakness elsewhere." he shrugged, before revealing a small smirk. "Though I too prefer a woman with a bit of fight." "Where are you from, mainlander?" he inquired.

Uhtred gestures for her to keep talking "So real fighting then? What's the last you've seen before this new war with the west?"

Uhtred gestures for her to keep talking "So real fighting then? What's the last you've seen before this new war with the west?" "Oh, I fought some Summer Islanders a while back, fierce warriors, men and women both. Ever heard of the goldenheart bows? I have never seen arrows fly so far or so true. We gained plunder but I lost a few good men that day. No thralls, though. Those archers were bloody good."

Uhtred grunts in surprise "Summer Islanders? Interesting. Even they weren't man enough for you? I approve. Tales of their... virility is infamous, yet I know a few men who have lost themselves in Summer Island flesh" a cold look comes into his blue-grey eyes "I have little regard for them."

"They make worthy foes," Freya answered. "But no, I lay with Ironmen, or nobody. It is different for a woman, I assure you. A man may assert his power over women from the green lands by taking them to bed. That is a little trickier for a woman, and no man who is weak enough to be taken captive is worthy of a woman with salt in her veins."

The woman speaks no Westerosi, but shrugs and hands the man a drink, then takes one herself. She looks him over approvingly.
The other man shrugs to Killion. "Hard to recall. Fought all the way from Dorne to gods-damned the Frostfangs, though." He laughs. "Kill one man here and you get a byname. Gallow's Man. Fifteen years fighting everyone in Westeros and not even a hint of a byname. Name's Nyles."

Uhtred smiles for a second "Seems like you could argue that a woman who was weak enough to be taken would also be unworthy of a ironborn. Those are the salt wives I suppose, the unworthy. Only a woman... strong enough would be proper for a strong bloodline."

The woman speaks no Westerosi, but shrugs and hands the man a drink, then takes one herself. She looks him over approvingly. He took the drink with a smile and took a drink then leaned in close to the woman and made a suggestive gesture, making a circle with the forefinger and thumb of his left hand and thrusting the index finger of his right through it. He then pointed at the woman and then at himself. Uhtred smiles for a second "Seems like you could argue that a woman who was weak enough to be taken would also be unworthy of a ironborn. Those are the salt wives I suppose, the unworthy. Only a woman... strong enough would be proper for a strong bloodline." "That's why men take rock wives," Freya agreed. "'Tis different for men, though, and the sons and daughters of salt wives can be as strong as their fathers." She thought a moment. "my brother was good enough to make me a gift of Oakenshield. I suppose by rights I ought take a husband, but it would not please me to marry any man who was not of our own people and proven in battle."

"Killion Greyjoy." he replied in introduction, offering a hand to the sellsword, though it seemed the man already knew that. "Never been a fan of bynames myself. Makes a man settle and rest his laurels on one accomplishment. Better they be awarded posthumously so a man's life can be measured as a whole."
