A small scouting party, lead by Harrick, had set out into the desert to track down Dayne and his men.
OOC: First two chars who aren't Borros or Alanna get to play.

Garlan is one of those among the scouts for some bizarre reason. He is wearing a piece of cloth tied around his head to block his face from the occasional sand wind that accompanies the desert landscaping.

Freheri is also a Scout, for the exact same reason as Garlan. His size maybe? No ones sure, but it was apparent that Harrick hadn't realized he was there until he reached just after the point where it would have been awkward to ask to send him back, and so proceeded to ignore him.

The group had set out almost a bell ago and were now deep within the desert, the sand soft beneath their feet. The group consisted of five, small numbers meaning swifter travel and it seemed as if Harrick knew how to follow tracks left in the sand.
They continued on for a while until they spotted a massive cleft in the ground a ways off. Something had long ago torn the earth apart and now there was carved a massive canyon deep in the desert floor.
"Looks like a mighty good hiding place," Harrick grunted, the first words he had spoken.

Freheri moves up, and examines the ground "Yes... I know of a few merchant caravans who bedded down there when they didn't trust the village. Good shelter from the winds, and I think there's a source of water there. It wouldn't be a bad place to hide certainly."

"Doesn't look natural, is what it looks." Garlan says his voice muffled slightly from his face wrap. "Is rare for the dunes to create a canyon that rigid."

"Unnatural? Who made it then, a fallen sand walker then?" Fraheri snorts, the tales of the Sand Giants was a kids story "I'm sure that's just as real as the Dragons and Bumkins and Grikos. No man made that canyon, had to be natural made. Maybe a river?"

"Could be," Harrick grunted, staring at the cleft from a distance. "Earthquake maybe, thousands of years ago. Or giants." He looked about, then motioned for the others to get low. "Time to get a closer look."
With that he waved them forward to slowly approach the crag.

The small merchant snorts "Giants. pft. Next thing you know Dayne'll be a Sorcerer. Oooooo" he mutters as he rides forward. His hand had stopped shaking this morning. That was good. Just keep thinking about stupid things and they wouldn't start again.

"A river?" Garlan scoffs, "Would have to have been some mighty river to be that big to not have been filled in yet."

"Quiet," Harrick grunted as they got closer to the fissure in the ground. They got low and crept forward the last few meters...
To find a small camp at the bottom of the crag, which was reach via a small natural path that led down on the other side of the cleft. The camp consisted of small tents and bed roll as well as a single fire place. All in all there were about fourty men, some of them wounded and most wearing leather armour. Dayne was among them, easily made out by his garb and the chain mail he wore, though the man who had wielded the sword and axe was not present.

Freheri's eyes bug out as he recognizes the big man who had killed Herrick. His left hand begins shaking, and he forces all his concentration on just keeping it there, bottling it up... He looks wide eyed at Garlan and jerks his head back so they could talk out of eyesight of the men. "What do we do? Go get everyone else? What if they move?"

"If I can get an arrow into that fire, I can have that entire hole filled with fumes that'll make them wish they were dead and in no shape to move anywhere until we can get reinforcements." Garlan states, "An arrow isn't very stealthy though."

"Yes" Fraheri considers and focuses on herbs, he knows herbs. ."Yes... I could help with that. I have the knowledge. If they were distracted by something maybe, they wouldn't notice the shot, right? What could distract them?" His hand had stopped shaking
