Skill changes:
Kings Landing Melee, sword +1
Character's Appearance: Lord Aeric stands slightly higher than an average man. He is quite handsome. His hair is black, his eyes are light blue with flecks of silver, and his nose is long and thin. His hair is kept short and he is usually clean shaven. He has well developed muscles as a result of his continual training. His voice is soft.
Character's Personality: Aeric's devotion to his training left him little time to make friends as a child, and as a result he has none to speak of. He is a quiet, meditative individual, devoted, as were his forefathers, to R'hllor. He is a dignified young man. He hates the Tyroshi, and dislikes those who do not share his faith in R'hllor.
Character's History:
Under King Harris Baratheon, Kinglsand forces invaded one of the middle Stepstones in 323 A.L, in a continuation of their policy of Eastward expansion. The island in question was small, but had a sizable port, making it an important strategic location from both a commercial and military standpoint. Upon it's seizure by King Harris' forces, the port would be renamed Stanniston, after the King's father. Ser Nathyn Sunglass (b. 303), Lord Sunglass' third son, would be awarded the port for his display of bravery in its capture. The first action Ser Nathyn, a staunch follower of Rhllor, would take would be the collection of all religious items connected to the Seven and their ensuing destruction in a great pyre at the center of the town. He also renounced the arms of his family, seeing them as a affirmation of the seven, and declared himself to be Lord Nathyn Pyre. His coat of arms would be a white pyre on a black field, symbolic both of R'hllor's Struggle against the Other and of his own first action in charge of the Port. While Lord Nathyn certainly couldn't be faulted for his devotion, he proved to be a poor administrator. He was a warrior, not a trader, and he left the entirety of the administration to advisors imported from Essos. His most lasting contribution to Stanniston, apart from the Pyre, was the construction of Crimson Keep, a small keep overlooking the docks. Lord Nathyn's heir, Jonarth (b. 328), who inherited upon his father's death in 343, was a much more capable administrator. He increased the size of the port, and cracked down on the corruption that had become commonplace in the port officials. However, when he departed with his eldest son in 367 to take part in the war against the Dornish, the Tyroshi, seeing an opportunity to take the island, attacked. The light garrison was quickly dispatched, and Lord Jonarth's wife, middle son and daughter were taken prisoner. Lord Jonarth would attempt to retake his seat at the conclusion of the war, his forces bolstered by men supplied by Lord Crabb and Lord Connington. Unfortunately, the Tyroshi had reinforced their position, and the Kingslanders would be repelled, with both Lord Jonarth and his eldest son, Brendyn (b. 350), dying in the battle. Jonarth's wife, Elaria Caron (b.333), his son Mikael (b. 354) and his daughter Elise (b. 356) would be executed as a result of the attack. This meant that Jonarth's youngest son, Aeric (b.361), was the only remaining Pyre. He had been at court in King's Landing, squiring for Ser (later Lord) Frank Sunglass, who was then a young man. Stanniston would not be retaken until 378, when a joint Kingsland-Lysene force invaded. Meanwhile, under Sunglass, young Aeric Pyre trained relentlessly. He knew that it was his duty as a Pyre to retake Stanniston, and he knew also that he could not die while doing so; his death would mean the end of House Pyre. He mastered the sword, and became a competent tactician where navies were concerned. He was also determined to learn Tyroshi, so he "could tell the bastards exactly who's killing them". Aeric was not at hand when Stanniston was reclaimed, but when he received the news he ran to the nearest Red Temple where he spent nearly two hours in thankful prayer. The retaking of the island had not come without a cost however; the Tyroshi had torched the crimson keep, leaving Aeric without a home. While the port remained intact, and was a steady source of income to boot, Aeric decided he could not return to Stanniston until he had a home there befitting of his status as a Lord. As such he has remained in Westeros while the keep is gradually restored. Aeric made Tym Waters, a bastard of noble blood, his Castellan, and he currently rules in Stanniston as Aeric travels Westeros, participating in tournaments, in search of both fame and a bride.
Character's Reputation: Unknown outside the Kingslands. Internally he is recognized as being a talented jouster. Little else is known about him.
