"If you're going to call me boy, then you'd best sharpen your sword," Titus said, hotly. "I didn't tell you, because it wasn't my place, I didn't know there were more, and I had no desire to kill the morale of the men with tales of beasts which may or may not be present. So, I suppose if you have a problem, you should talk to the fucking Prince, although I wouldn't recommend it. Besides, I didn't think you or your boys were planning to come along anyway. Didn't want to throw yourselves against some damned keep, or something like that, not that I could blame you for it."

"Most of my boys stayed on the boats and kept your pretty little ships from being looted by the vultures. Those that came chose too. It was our duty" he sighed, feeling more tired than he had in a long time. "The prince can bugger himself. You know the sea, as well as any land-man can I suppose. I'll keep my contract with you."

Titus laughed. "Good. I think the difficult part is over anyway. The fight may go on, but it'll be a battle in the shadows, not so much the domain of men like us. Rough day all around, a man's nose can only take so much punishment," he offered him his skin.

He takes the skin and takes a long drink from it. "I think there's still a few uses for us. That fleet we fought, there were still some left. They got away, and I'd hate to think that men say we didn't finish the job properly."

"Aye, I'm of a like mind, though mercenaries aren't noted for their loyalty, and those boys were a long way from home. More like as not they're riding a stiff wind as far away from here as they can get."

He smiled at that "Loyalty is rare. You want to let them go then? What would you have of me then?"

"Shit, Farwynd, I'm not sure there is much more I have for you. You'd be more than welcome to return to Gulltown, but I'm not sure what you'd turn up there. White Harbor might be a better option for you. I, for one, will follow the Prince, not so much because I care much what this Cassadar fellow does, but for other reasons. You're free to do as you please, so far as I can see."
