Benjen stared down at the bodies, his hand on the hilt of his sword. He'd cleaned it but he knew the blade had drank deep.
"I see now why Bryce Dayne has not been bested in battle," Benjen responded grimly. "Without that damn thing we might have won. Damn it!"

Nicholas rubs his jaw and Prince Arthur nods. "Might have, yes," he said. "He'll be fortifying the borders now, sealing Dorne off from the world. The boneway is inpenetrable if it's well defended," he claimed. "The only way in now is through the Prince's Pass. We need to hit Nightsong and then Skyreach." He looks to his brother in law. "You did better against him than anyone else has, so far."

Benjen frowned. "I told lady Fowler I wouldn't take her castle. Don't feel good about going back on my statement but there's no choice." He looked at Arthur. "I think it might have had to do with that sword. Bryce Dayne commands with fear."
He looked to Nik "Thank you, brother; I mean it. I will make sure you are rewarded."

Nick rolls his neck to loosen it and nods. "Thanks," he goes to say more but thinks better in public. Arthur frowns.
"Lady Fowler will have to deal with her disappointment. I plan on heading into Dorne," he said. "Nick sent word to lady Uller and lord Qorgyle has remained steadfast. If we cannot beat him in the open we will force him to be everywhere at once."

"Lady Uller has returned to Hellholt?" Benjen asked, nodding. "We must fight using dornish tactics. We need Durand Coldwater as well, to suck the bastard dry. If Kal Stark can get us the wildlings then we should be able to amass a host big enough thay Bryce Dayne's skill at command won't matter."

"She is on the way from the capital, Benjen," Nick said. "Should be here within the week." Aaron looked to the prince.
"I got word yesterday my sister landed at Duskendale." He looked odd. "She can't see king's landing like it is." He shakes his head. "Why Vhagus let her go is beyond me, but we need to reclaim the Stormlands while we have Bryce penned up."

"I spoke with Vhagus," Benjen told Aaroo. showed up in one of my candles. I convinced him to let your sister go." He thought for a moment. "But I agree, the Stormlands must be secured.

Post by Lord Korben of Nightsong on Apr 30, 2015 9:34:41 GMT -5
Korben was laying on the ground as he stared up at the sky, his eye stared blanky up into the open air above him as he couldn't help but smile. Then he started to chuckle, low at first then getting a bit louder as korben rose to his feet, exhaustion that had caused him to collapse in the first place beginning to fade.
Korben found his axe just an arms length away, picking it up as he used it as a cane, pulling himself to his feet. The terror and dread before was gone, and in its place the knight felt a surge of euphoria, most likely adrenaline.
"A dragon...I fought a bloody dragon..." Korben said as he brushed the mop of blond hair aside and grinned, "Brothers never going to believe this.."

Lord Commander Brax comes to him with a wineskin and tosses it to him. He is in his late forties, but tall and strong and superbly talented at fighting. "You fought like a real damned madmn, Kenning," he said. "What a song they can write about that one. Won't even be bullshit, for once."

Aaron arches an eyebrow. "He visited you? Fucking sorcerer." He spits on tthe ground. "Give me eight thousand men and I'll get you the Stormlands."
Arthur looks to Ben. "How is...Meera doing?" He shook his head. "I was laid up for four months at Kingsgrave." His ruined right hand has a small shield, his left a spear. "Nearly died of blood poisoning."

"You can have them," Benjen told Aaron, before turning to Arthur. "Meera is well, Prince Aaron. She... is dealing with what happened. She will be elated to know you are well. She's with the host."

He goes off to find her. Brynden and Aaron drift away, leaving Benjen and his brother (and bored PCs). Nick swigs from his whiskey. "We got lucky oday," he said. "Bryce must be weak from making the dragon. He didn't even try using sorcery." He lucked about. "I didn't want to say anything in front of the others."

"Even man on man Bryce Dayne bested me; with magic we'll be in trouble," Benjen grunted, staring off into the distance. "We need to kill that beast before the next battle."

"He's on the back foot," Nick said. "We fought him most of the way to a standstill without your best men here. With Lord Kalvin and the Stormlands and Arthur's rebels we can probably hit him with eighty thousand men if we need to." He thought a moment. "But it could ruin the entire realm. Even without Bryce Dayne the Reachmen and the Stormlanders hate the Dornish. Genocide could ensue. If Vhagus is talking to you directly then he is planning on coming, one day or the other. He just can't help himself."

"They won't have a choice but to fight together," Benjen stated. "Let us see if we can inspire those men to overcome their animosity in light of a serious threat to the whole of Westeros."
At the comment about Vhagus he nodded. "It'll be a while yet, I think but it will happen. We need to be prepared for that."
