"About a week, I think." He raises a glass in mock toast. "Well, I wish you were a far more horrible person so this whole thing felt a bit better."

Joanna drank deep and wrinkled her nose at the sour taste. She was more of a sweet summerwine kind of girl. She snorted at that. "You think I'm nice?" she asked.

"Well, not nice, exactly, in fact you're a bit of a bitch, but not that bad." He grins. "At least you're interesting. If I'd have kidnapped anyone else they'd be all begging for their life right now, asking how they could ever convince me to spare them and such. Especially the hardened criminals. They're the absolute worst whiners." He shakes his head. "When I hunted down Owen Miller, all he did was cry about how he just wanted to see your...what was the word...lovelies. Killing him was a genuine pleasure."

Joanna looked disgusted. "What? He broke into our home just for that?" she asked incredulously and shrugged. "Then again, you watched us for a long time, too. That is kind of.. perverse."

"It seems a pretty compelling reason to me," Nicholas jokes. "I never watched you change, thank you. You're a job, not a...trophy."

"Is that supposed to make me feel better?" she asked and sipped the wine. Admittedly, things could have been a lot worse. She hadn't been tied up or mandhandled, after all. Yet, anyway. "So, you don't like to talk about your family, huh? It might be far-fetched, but does the name Stark ring any bells?" she asked with a content smirk, studying his expression.

"Can you get a 'no' to that question anywhere in Westeros?" he asked. "They're a pretty famous family, I think." He shrugs. "My parents and I aren't very close." As he fills up his glass again, bottle two goes empty.

"What set you apart?" she asked, feeling a lot better now that the alcohol had reached her blood. The swaying of the ship didn't bother her as much as before. She noticed the empty bottle. "There better be a lot more where that came from, otherwise I might not survive this trip," she warned.

"So much more. At least fifteen bottles under your bed alone. "If you believe it or not...I'm the one who doesn't approve of their lifestyle." He reaches out a hand. "Give me my knife back; I don't want you to start trying to slit your own throat again."

"Their lifestyle?" Joanna asked. She had to laugh at the last part, looking genuinely amused. "Oh, you are not getting it back. And it's not my throat you should be worried about. I only wanted to see your reaction earlier," she said, smirking. "You didn't care."

"They're worse than me," he says. "Of course I cared, but when you're holding all the cards it makes gambling easy. Out here," he gestures to their present circumstances. "Anything could happen." He licks his lips against the chapping from the salty air. "What should I be worried about?"

"Worse, how?" she inquired, and shrugged. "I'm not telling you that. Wouldn't want to make it easy, now would I? But if you say anything could happen, means anything could go wrong as well."

Nicholas debates a moment. "They're just worse. Do I have to interrogate you?" He chuckles. "I'm actually not half bad at it, but it always feels weird; hanging people upside down and asking questions. There's no reason to not be polite about it." He drinks a bit more of the wine. "Something going wrong could work out in your favor, really. Unless we happen upon the Ironborn..."

Joanna flashed him a smile and leaned in, supporting her elbows on the table. "You wouldn't want to do that though, would you?" She wasn't sure if she was supposed to be frightened by his words. If so, he'd done a poor job. "And how exactly would that work in our favour?" she asked pointedly. From her expression it was clear that she disliked the Ironborn.

"I said, that would be the exception. I'm too delicate to be a salt wife," he says. "Anyway, I should let you rest tonight. We've got plenty more sailing to go. Let me know if there's anything else you need."
