"I have a message for Gavriel," she said. "My name is Morgan. Please may I speak to him?"

The lady waves her in. The young ex maesters is sitting in a corner, reading. "Morgan who?"

"Brax," she said. "Of Hornvale. Maester Raynald sent me. Incidentally, do you hear much about Oldtown and the Citadel here?"

"HArdly incidental," he said. "I rather imagine that is the whole reason you're here."

"Yes. Maester Raynald thought you would be interested in the situation and perhaps even help me. Lady Hightower and her wards may be in danger now and I seek justice for the wrongs done to me as well. Have I come to the right place?"

"I don't deal in justice," he said. "And the Lady Arania means little and less to me. However," he said, "destroying the maesters of the Citadel, now, that is a goal worth rallying around."

Morgan's eyes lit up as she smiled. "That was my next point. I want to root out the corrupt maesters at the heart of the Citadel. I want the Citadel's library to be accessible to women as well as to men and I want to ensure that the Citadel does not hold the realm in thrall by controlling our castles and our letters." She paused and then she said, more quietly. "I want vengeance too, as much as justice. When I find the man who ordered me flogged, I'll make him bleed for it."

"Vengeance is a language I speak," Gavriel said. "What do I stand to gain from you?" He grins. "I'm no altruist, I fear."

"If we can take control of the Citadel, we'll have access to the books any other items of use, and you did say you wanted to destroy the maesters. My aim is to destroy the corruption that currently plagues the Citadel. I would hope that there are men within the Citadel who abhor the schemes of their brothers and are willing to help us make the necessary changes. If not, we'll deal with them too. But I want access to the library more than anything in this world."
She paused, looked at him for a moment. "Forgive me, but I don't know why you hate the maesters so much. I would like to understand your motives better, because otherwise I won't know what you truly want."

Gavriel smiles. "That's a long story. Suffice to say I will help you kill them. I can promise that the Citadel has no treasures I shall ever be allowed to use, regardless of the maesters," he said.

Morgan frowned. That statement meant little sense to her right now. "How do you mean? Who are you, truly? How will you help me?"

"Come back tomorrow. I'll give you what you need then. Or," he shrugged. "Pour some wine and stick around for a few hours."

"I could stay a little while," she said. "Not as long as a few hours. I have many things to do, troops to raise, allies to call upon. I also need to do some shopping. But how long will it take for you to get what you need? If it will truly take a few hours, I had better come back tomorrow."

He gives her a mischievous smile. "Tomorrow is fine."

"Thank you, then. I will come here tomorrow, at the same time."
She smiled and headed back to her men.
