"...it says..." The guards voice stops in his throat and he hands it to Benjen.
The note reads simply at the bottom:
"Be seeing you soon! Give Ami and the girls my regards!"

"He'll smell an ambush from miles away," Benjen grunted, crumpling up the note. "Nevertheless, it won't hurt trying."
He went outside and studied the lay out of the place. "You," He said, pointing at two of the guards. "Check out the other buildings, especially the silo."

The guards return a half hour later to say that the other buildings haven't been lived in for some time. The silo is half full but the grain is starting to rot...whoever had been tending it hasn't for quite some time. Catherine looks at her man. "You're really planning on ambushing Cassadar?"

"He'll be expecting it of course," Benjen said, a grim expression on his face. "But if the chance exists I will not let it go to waste. The bastard wants to gloat, and sooner or later he'll have to do it to my face."
He looked about the main room to see if there were good areas to hide.

There's doors leading upstairs, downstairs, and all over the place. Outside, in the dark, he could hide in a thousand different things, as farm implements are scattered over the ground.

Benjen grunted. He had too few men, and too many people with him who he valued. "Walton, Erik," He said to two of the guards. "I want you over by the house facing this one. Keep your eyes on it at all times. Danya, you're on top of the silo with the crossbow, the other two guards with you at the base. Catherine, Amelia," He looked to the two girls. "We'll be in the main house."

Catherine has difficulty feigning enthusiasm for this place. "We should have brought a lot more men if we wanted a war, Ben. Like my father." The guards put on their red shirts.

"I can't waste this chance, Catherine," Benjen replied, closing his eyes to take a deep breath. "I cannot say I am too happy that I am putting you in danger... but I could not send you back to fetch help. For all we know Cassadar is already watching."

"If he is, then we're the ones in the trap," she pointed out. Nonetheless, she checks her crossbow ammo and finds a good spot in a corner room where she can watch two directions at once.

He gives Catherine a lingering look, only briefly opening himself up before locking his emotions up as best as he could. He dragged the old lady and pulled her onto a chair, before taking the stew off the head. Then, hand on his sword, he moved into a position behind a wardrobe, where he could keep his eyes on the door and be relatively unseen.
Amelia went to hide under a table, which stood close by Catherine.

The old lady, ignored for so long, has died from internal bleeding.
Catherine looks over at Ami. "Fear not, fair lady, for I shall protect you. Again."

Amelia nodded at Catherine, give her a thankful smile. Benjen meanwhile stood as quietly as he could, the hand under his glove becoming sweaty.

An hour passes, and the group gets bored. Another hour, and then the door creaks open, and a man steps in. He has a sword belted to his waist, and he looks at the old woman's body in horror.

Benjen looked the man up and down, trying to determine his hair and eye colour if he could.

The man has brown hair but isn't facing Benjen. Catherine has the crossbow pointed at him, and he turns and sees her suddenly. His sword comes out as she releases the bolt, which doesn't even stop as it passes through his body.
