Wormwood? Arania's eyes flicked to the newcomer. It was a poison, she knew that much. And used for other things as well, of course.
"I would be glad to extend my hand in friendship, at the very least," she added, looking back to Aenys. "It has been a long long time since Robert's Rebellion and the atrocities committed then." She felt suddenly that they were dangerous, all of them, though she was no less intrigued.

"You can make your damn tea later, Daena!" Aenys suddenly snaps at his sister, before shaking his head to recover. "Forgive my outburst; my sisters have few enough manners. The friendship of House Hightower is treasured, I assure you." He smiles. "I have noticed you stealing glances at my sword. Have you never seen Valyrian Steel?"

Arania looked shocked when he yelled at the tea-making sister. He switched quickly between malice and graciousness, putting her further on her guard. "Your sword? Ah, I have seen Valyrian steel, in swords and in Maester's links, though one is rarer still than the other. Has it a name? The pommel is very...interesting." In truth she had not wondered about the weapon, but of course, small talk had to be made.

"Dark Sister," he smiled. "If I may pry; what exactly led you to our little camp? Most Westerosi seem quite scared of us. I think that they believe we seek to return to Westeros or some such."

Of course it was. She smiled back. "To be quite honest, I thought the same, that you would try to retake the crown that was stolen so many years ago. But my curiosity overwhelmed any fears I might have had. I have a great love for the culture of old valyria, and was very interested in the rulers of the New."

"Well, we have quite enough on our plate with our little empire; I don't think we need another just yet," Aenys says with a grin. "And we certainly don't have three dragons to take it over this time, anyway."
Tristessa and Daena, meanwhile, are occasionally licking their lips, and seem to be undressing Arania with their eyes.

"Are you saying one day, perhaps, you'd like to return? Perhaps hold all the known world as your own? A high aspiration, my..." Arania noticed the looks the Targaryen princesses were giving her. "Are you quite well?"

"Oh, yes, of course we are, thank you." Daena says. "Just admiring your hair. Back east, they have black hair, but it's all...dull. Yours is shiny black, like dragonglass." She reaches out and touches it with the back of her hand.

Arania went very still and stiff when the princess touched her hair. "Uh...thank you. I find your hair very lovely and rare as well." She didn't take her eyes off of Daena.

"Oh!" She said suddenly, please. She unconsciously brushes her own. "Yes, it is. Really only those of us with Valyrian blood still in us have it, I think." Aenys closes his eyes and takes two deep breaths.
"Daena, please leave our guest alone. Now, to answer your question, no, I do not intend on trying to conquer the whole world." He laughed at the idea.

Arania glanced back at Aenys, then back to Daena. She did not want to let the princess out of her sight for a second, with that odd look in her eyes and her hands buried in Arania's hair. "I did not think you would try, but it was an interesting thought," she spoke slowly, wary of the sister.

"Please, please, My lady...Arania, if I may? Our only concern here is to ensure that the Hegemon and the hordes of savage Dothraki do not overrun us. Daena! Leave her alone!" Aenys's voice has steel in it. Daena makes an exaggerated pouting face and leaves. "I am so glad to hear you are safe, though, my lady. We had heard a Lady Hightower had been kidnapped."

Arania was very relieved to see her go. She sighed heavily. "Yes, as am I. It was all due to my curiosity, unfortunately. But I am quite the better for it, I think. No longer so quick to trust those I have only just met."

Aenys nods, not seeming to be sure of how to respond to that. "Trust can be...a very dangerous thing, indeed. You are far more curious than anyone else I have met here, save maybe Prince Stark. I must wonder, does your skill at speaking Valyrian extend to other sorts of learning?"

She smiled at the mention of the Prince. "I've studied many things, if that is what you are asking. I correspond with a great many people throughout the Goldlands, highborn and common alike."
