"Fifteen, counting half siblings." He leaned forward. "Yes, we seek allies. Armies rage about Essos on a scale unseen in generations here, at least since the War of Five Kings, and possibly since...well, the Trident." Tristessa grinned.
"We made allies, all right."

"We have been generally peaceful, aside from what the bards and writers have called the Wars of the Succession," she agreed. "I hardly know what an army looks like."
She looked at Tristessa with interest. "And what allies might those be?" She included Aenys in her question. "Who do you think most likely to send you aid? I am sure you have heard of our recent troubles, and the possibility of war within our own lands."

ooc: Going to assume this is a few days later...not EVERYTHING can happen in one day.
"We could hardly ignore it. Sadly, three men trying to plunder our camp had to be put to the sword. They thought the dragons were involved in it, apparently." Aenys shook his head.
Tristessa giggled and said nothing. Aenys continued. "We do not need armies to come aid us. We need pressure from Westeros on the Free Cities, to stop their sending aid to our enemies."

(ooc: You got it. I made a minor edit, even.)
"Of course, the dragons and the Iron Islanders both had to be involved," she added mildly, mulling over all he had to say. "So you need words more than anything else." It was interesting news, to be certain. Tristessa made her curious, but she did not press the matter. "And why are you so open with me, laying out all your cards, so to speak?"

"Why not? I've spoken to the monarchs, and what I'm saying is general enough." He grinned. "Besides, I do not often get to practice my Westerosi on attractive young noble-ladies. It is considerable motivation." Tristessa giggled at that.
"I think Aegon first came to Westeros because he heard how lovely all the people were, indeed."

Arania blushed the tiniest bit. She hardly received such compliments, and she thought herself immune to flattery. She was not entirely correct. "I do not think that would be reason enough, my prince. After all, he had..." She looked at Tristessa, wondering if they still practiced the Targaryen tradition betwixt themselves. "Perhaps I might practice my Valyrian on you then? I read it well enough but of course hardly anyone speaks it properly."

"If you would like, I cannot deny you," he says with a chuckle. "I shall speak Westerosi to you, and you may feel free to respond in Valyrian."
Tristessa laughs, a bit sharply, and adds in Valyrian more accented than Arania grew up learning, but probably more technically accurate. "I had wondered if Westeros was civilized enough to speak the elder tongues. I am glad someone is."

They seemed very pleasant, the two of them. "Very well then," she replied, her accent very different from Tristessa's. "I grew up among all the books of the citadel, I am sure more would speak the ancient languages if they had that luxury."
Small talk, all of it. Arania found er eyes drawn to the blade at Aenys' side. Of course everyone would be armed now, or go forth with guards at their back. "Tell me more of where you come from. I confess I know little of the east."

Aenys chuckles and answers in his mellifluous voice. "I am the Prince of Yunkai. It is the southern of the two cities we manage, but it is so large it could, in the words of a Dornish sailor I met once, eat King's Landing alive and go back for seconds. It is quite hot, not like here, and it never snows or any such. But...it has a sense of danger to it, because only fifty miles south of our city is the border, which is at war right now. If my brother the king hadn't commanded me to come here himself, I'd have never left," he admits.

"Fascinating," Arania breathed, switching immediately back to her native tongue. "Oldtown is large as well, but I think your cities may dwarf even it. Was it not dangerous to leave during war? What if...do you not worry?"
The dragon...she couldn't forget to ask about that. "And have you really got a dragon?"

Tristessa giggles. "And a wolf inside." Aenys makes a face at her.
"We could say yes or no, my dear, but would you really believe us either way? We are hoping when the voyage we have proposed takes place, that Westerosi can bring word themselves." He smiles. "And while leaving during war was a dangerous decision, to not send anyone of consequence would have been a grave insult."

Arabia gave her a sharp look. What was that supposed to mean? A living, breathing wolf or the crowned one, used to represent the Starks? Tristessa seemed a bit...off. She chose not to dignify that with a response.
"Ah, the voyage east. I would like to go myself but I cannot see my father agreeing to that. I will have to wait to find out, it seems, though my curiosity grows stronger by the minute. I see your brother has sent two of consequence," she looked back to Tristessa again, "I never expected representatives from your great cities, to becertain. Though I am glad at least a few of ny curiosities concerning your illustrious family have been sated."

Aenys bows with an exaggerated yet grand-feeling gesture. "I am honored to speak to a scion of Oldtown. You really must come east, my lady. History feels oh-so-much more real when you are living it. And we have history in spades in Meereen and Yunkai. and perhaps, an answer to your earlier question," he winks."

Arania's smile widened. "How tempting indeed! To see firsthand the things I only read of in books! And to confirm the existence of your dragon myself..." She shook her head, feeling that travel, especially across the Narrow Sea, was not in her future.

"You would be more than welcome, of course. I should like House Targaryen and the kingdoms of Westeros to be friends." Another young woman walks in and sees Arania.
"Aenys! Where's the wormwood? I need to make some...tea."
