The guard outside his door was about to question her when the door opened and Benjen walked out. "Oh, greetings lady...?" He said when he spotted Reyna.

"Reyna," she said. "Reyna Harlaw. I thought I would pay my courtesies, if you do not mind? You are Prince Benjen, are you not?"
She swept a low curtesy.

At the surname he scowled for an instant. "I am he, and of course I do not mind. You may call me Benjen."

"You are kind to say so...Benjen," she said. "I have never met anybody from the North before. Until now, the only place outside the Islands I had visited was Casterly Rock, because I was sent as ambassador there."

"And I have met few people from the Iron Islands," Benjen replied, noting how the girl did not seem like an Ironborn. "They tend to ignore the mainland."

"Yes. Because my people are wedded to the sea. Most of them feel at home aboard ship. Especially the men. The women mostly stay at home on the Islands. But I didn't want to be stuck at Old Wyk my whole life. I like tales of chivalry and fine dresses and things we don't have on the Islands. So I fit in at Casterly Rock," she explained. "Because I'm not so different from the women of the Goldlands."

"Is that so?" Benjen asked, studying Reyna a little closer. "They gave Clarence Blackwall a knighthood and yet he still behaves like the dog he is." Benjen paused. "I did not mean any offense to you, Lady Reyna."

"None taken," she said at once. "I know that sometimes knighthoods are given to those who don't always uphold the vows correctly. I barely know Ser Clarence though, except by reputation."

"Well, no matter," Benjen said, his stiffness lifting a bit. "Is there something specific you came to see me about?"

"Not really, I just wanted to meet you. I want to widen my experiences and meet people from different places. And I thought it would be interesting to visit you. Because I feel that you Northmen have a very different culture from the Goldlands. Is that right?"
She smiede warmly at him.

"Naturally," Benjen answered, holding the door open for her to finally enter. "We do not share gods with anyone else, nor are our customs the same. I am sure moving to the Goldlands was a culture shock for you."

She followed him through the door.
"Yes, it was. The Seven are very interesting, as gods go, but I still believe in the Drowned God. But I can appreciate the pageantry of the Seven, even though those aren't my gods."

"And does he see your here, your Drowned God; so far on land?" Benjen chuckled. "The Old Gods see through the Hearttrees. Where they do not stand they are blind."

"Oh. That's sad," she said with feeling. "Blind gods. How curious. The Drowned God sees all, I think. He has been good to me, so it must be His will that I am ambassador. And when I'm at Casterly Rock, that's by the sea. This is the furthest inland I've ever been. It feels a bit strange to not fall asleep to the waves."

"I can imagine, not hearing the sound you are used to all your life," Benjen said with a nod. "How long have you been away from the Islands now?"
