"Well, I know you'll be busy in Gulltown," he said. "Or King's Landing, with your lord husband as my Hand."

Joanna wondered briefly if the jab was intentional. "Right after they take Eddard's Rest, or so I've been told. You would be surprised at what can be achieved in only a matter of days," she said, not unkindly.

Brynden nods. "Your lord father assures me that one of our allies has a plan to avenge your kidnapping." He leans in conspiratorially. "We can send you heads, if you want. We pay our debts."

Joanna shifted in her seat uncomfortably, ears obviously pricked at this sudden change of topic, although she was slowly growing to hate her aforementioned lord father for keeping so much information from her in these past few months. "Cassadar is dead," she finally remarked. "Was he not the one behind this?"

"Of course not," Brynden said. "The northmen were behind it, of course. Didn't you even say that bastard was named Snow? And you were found in the Riverlands?" He nodded self-importantly. "No, they must pay for what they did."

She took a very deep breath and was silent for a while, debating whether to bring this up again or not. "Why would the North want to kidnap me?" she finally deadpanned.

"At this point, does it even matter?" Brynden shrugged. "You're safe, and we are knocking on their doorstep. Lord Kalvin might hide a few years behind Moat Cailin, but everyone knows he can't come south to help anyone while he has threats on both sides." He looks at her oddly. "Do you...like the Starks, or something?"

"No," she replied very, very patiently. "At this point, I suppose it really doesn't. Whose heads exactly does this ally wish to send me? Nicholas Snow's?"

"Sure, and anyone else you think was involved in it." Brynden's armor arrives. "Cousin, I must be off now. There is a war to win." Trailed by his Kingsguard, the young king exits.
As he leaves, Jessica looks back to Joanna, a trace of pity in her eyes. "Are you ok, then?"

"Best of luck," said Joanna before he left, slightly amused that her comment had made the king leave without proper dinner. "I have a feeling I will be," she mused, then cocked her head a little to the side whilst eyeing the princess. "It seems as if you are were lucky enough not to be offered up yet. Is it coincidence, or do they have someone even better in store for you?"

Jessica smiles widely. "Oh, I will be getting my dream husband soon." She walks saucily over to Joanna and whispers. "I hear he has a dragon."

For some reason, Joanna briefly vizualised closing her hands around the princess's slender neck and choking the life out of her smug face. She forced a polite smile. "Glad to hear it, cousin. Ah, but then you will be travelling all the way to Meereen, will you not? Across the world from here, sadly."

Jessica smiles. "Better there than here. I will be a queen." She looks smugly at Kelsey. "Not a tigress." she struts off, chuckling.
Kelsey shakes her head. "What a bitch."

Joanna waited until Jessica was gone, and leaned in, resting her elbows on the table. "Do you know when you will be leaving?" she asked with a completely genuine expression of mild concern on her face for the first time since setting foot in this castle.

Kelsey looked like she was going to cry. "In just a few weeks, I think. The Ironborn are out raiding but when the seas are clear he is shipping me off..." she started sobbing. "I love home!"
