DA RP could be fun, certainly a good world and lore for it.

I've found the video game RP problem is that interactions in those games are defined almost exclusively by violence rather than actual attempts at problem solving. And as tense as fights in these can be it can't really be said that they are skill intensive haha

If we're writing the actions, there is more scope to do things besides fighting.

Brad's right. It IS a massive problem. I struggled building ME Redemption because the game is so combat based. You can ask Zack how much I struggled building the character creation process. I'm sure players have noticed that, of the three I offered, its still incomplete. (Though I have almost all the missing bits in notes I'll be putting up later today.)

ME has the issue far more than DA does, it provides almost nothing that isn't combat (aside from character relations), and not a single mission, that I know of. DA at least has a fair bit of story non-combat quests and options and a decent ability to world-write. Two games of the same genre that had different approaches a bit.

There was a lot of non-fighting stuff in one particular quest in DAI. Computer games throw lots of random bad guys at you on a very regular basis on purpose, but it wouldn't be necessary to do that for a rp, I assume. After all, you don't need loot in the same way and having to deal with DA style experience points would drive any admin batty.

I'd like to do a game set in the DA world, but more similar to the games we run here. That, or we could go completely mental and have a free-form rp. No dice rolls, just player v player writing skills and nobody dies unless they want to/are deemed to die by the DM.

Would suggest a DA world with our Westeros set up. While free-form has it's perks, having the reliability and decision making of dice rolls are a bit more fun.
Less likely to throw yourself into a battle if it's up to the dice.
Unless you're Harwyn.

You know, I do tend to have fun with these dice rolls. Even if they cause me massive stress. I wouldn't mind one where we play like that.

I was tempted to do Dorne that way but as convinced nobody else would want to play that. Almost all the games I played years before I discovered this group were done purely on the writing. Though to be honest, those games were much less reliant on combat than our games, so it would be harder to do.

Almost every rp I've been in was based on writing. A few of them were a combination of both, where you had to write better then your opponent or your character would die in a battle. I find those games have action moments crop up as well as quite moments, though the rps I got involved in often had action often to keep writers interested.

We could try to hold rap battles instead. Perhaps in tha DA one, to try the new system out.
