The North
Lord Devan Manderly: The Lord of White Harbor is known as a puissant admiral, his galleon-based navy slow but strong and durable to compensate for the harsh northern winds. Appointed Warden of the Narrow Sea by King Terrence Stark, his job is to guard not only White Harbor and the Three Sisters, but also the whole of the eastern coast to Maidenpool. His small fleet of corsairs, styled the Winds of Winter, catches pirates with ease. There are now few smugglers or criminals desperate enough to try blockade running the North. (29) (Sea - Command and Scouting)
Durand "Bloodsucker" Coldwater: What Everett is to command and control, Durand is to unpredictability. Like many in the new kingdom of the North, he found himself trading a belief in the Seven to a return to the worship of the gods of the First Men. He has much experience fighting the mountain clans, but since the treaty of 474 he has been seen increasingly often on the border with the West. His annoying habit of hitting supply lines again and again has earned him the byname "Bloodsucker". With him and Everett Blackwood commanding the North's hosts, they may prove unstoppable on the defensive. (31) (Land, Ambush)
The Goldlands
Ser Tomas the False Lion: Stepbrother to Lord Stafford's twins, Ser Tomas has proved a resourceful and cruel general, commanding forces initially in charge of quelling peasant revolts in the Reach. In light of a rumored alliance with the Faith Militant, Ser Tomas has taken to crushing the pockets of foreign believers around the Goldlands. He is ambitious, intelligent, and rumors say that he believes he is more suited to the title of Lord of the West than either of Stafford's children. (22) (Land - Cavalry, Command)
Maester Fremont: A strange man, Maester Fremont is King Kyle's resident expert on siege engines and techniques. Frail but not old, Fremont orchestrated the destruction of a holdfast known as Connor's Point in merely three days. (40) (Land - Siege)
The Iron Islands
Malik Greyjoy: Uncle to the lord of Flint's Finger, this man has held his border against all odds for years from occasional incursions from the North. He is cold and emotionless, caring little for anyone but his only daughter. His main feeling is hatred towards Kal Stark. The sworn enemy of House Reed. (37) (Land, Command and Scouting)
The Kingsland
Ser Richard Footly: The brother to Lord Footly, traitor lords to the Goldlands, Ser Richard is nonetheless thought highly of wherever he goes, for his genuine good humor and skill at arms belies his deadly earnestness whilst leading the cavalry of the Kingsland. In the vanguard in every major fight they find themselves in. A noted jouster as well. (24) (Land, Cavalry)
Dorne
The Free Cities
Arsenius Faol: What Everett Blackwood is to land, the Grand Admiral of Braavos is to the sea, having smashed fleet after fleet of the Free Cities in battle over a quarter century. He has mastered nearly every tactic conceived, and Lord Devan Manderly is known to pay a man to observe him in battle and record what he sees to study from. His treatise on naval tactics is required reading for any serious commander at sea. His personality is completely unknown. (48) (Sea, Command, Ambush, Blockade, Scouting)
Unaffiliated
Nihilus of Tyrosh: A man in his early thirties, Nihilus has assembled a thousand men to serve in his mercenary company, the Arrogant Bastards. They are often crude and make ladies uncomfortable, and know little of restraint, but in battle they have proven that whilst they may be sellswords, they are not afraid to die to be honored as an Arrogant Bastard. They talk the talk and walk the walk, and often call upon Jann the Blue for some extra killing power. They are not cheap, but Nihilus's skills as a commander are nothing to scoff at, either. They are based on an island in the Braavos archipelago. (33) (Land, Raiding and Ambush)
Hangran Saim: This Summer Islander commands a flotilla of eighteen warships that offer their services wherever they are wanted. A deceiver at heart, he nonetheless will fulfill a contract exactly. His ships are every bit a match for the Iron Fleet taken one by one, and in fact he stopped a raid on Dorne when Princess Nalya hired him. He finds Westerosi women irresistible, and would probably offer his fleet for the chance to marry one of highborn blood. (41) (Sea, Command and Blockade)
Ser Shaun Redwyne: Heir to the Arbor, and handsome, Ser Shaun is the western kingdom's most sought after bachelor. His naval prowess is instrumental to the defense of the Arbor, and by extension, the all-important trade lanes of Lannisport and Oldtown. Commands the Arbor Fleet as easily as most seafarers command a fishing craft. Brilliant in many fields. Amusingly, is known to despise his homeland's wine, preferring Northern Whisky. Following a defeat by the Iron Fleet, was turned by Oriax the Undying into his prime death knight. (25) (Naval - Command and Blockade)
The Fallen:
Everett Blackwood: A follower of the Old Gods, Everett is the King's Appointed Warden of the Southern Reaches. His authority is purely military in nature, and his king's faith in him has been confirmed again and again in victories spanning twenty three years, since he took command. His first battle was as squire to the God of War, Lord Rickon Stark, himself. He married Rickon's granddaughter Mina, and the couple have an estate at Eddard's Rest. Believed to be grooming his son for command. Can safely be considered Westeros's reigning master military mind who can still take the field. (46) (Land - Command, Cavalry and Siege) (Slain by Lord Tarly at King's Landing)
King Kyle Lannister: The monarch of the Goldlands fears no man on the field, known for his aggressive tactics and skill with his greatsword, the great Lion is to be feared by all. His daughters are much sought after, and he is a man whose cunning matches his prowess. Respects Ser Justin Mallister after many meetings in their youth, including a duel they fought that lasted near a half hour, before both men mutually retired from the field and refused to fight again. Is believed to be seeking Ser Justin's daughter Catherine for his son and heir, Brynden. (49) (Land - Command and Raiding) (Famed with Sword)
Ser Denys Ashford: This Reachman is the commander of King Kyle's forces along the Dornish and Stormlands borders, and his ability to move men quickly has stymied both armies many times. He is wed to Lady Melysa Stark, Kal's sister, and the two will not willingly enter battle against each other. Known to drink and make merry together the few occasions they meet. (25) (Land - Ambush and Scouting) (Ironically, killed by Kalvin Stark at King's Landing)
Princess Nalya Martell: Nalya grew up a pampered, happy life, training to be a good wife and lady at some random castle, until one day when her mother came in crying, telling her that a man known as Ser Geoffrey Swyft had slain her brother Martyn. She vowed revenge along with her brother Prince Fyodor. Eight months later, Ser Geoffrey slew him too, leaving Nalya alone and scared. She vowed she would lead Dorne as her idol Nymeria, and studied text after text of her victories in Dorne. When the Goldlands armies entered Dorne, confident of an easy victory, they were instead crushed in a battle near the prince's Pass. Nalya then pressed the attack and nearly threatened Oldtown before vastly superior numbers pushed her army back. She is vigorous and nationalistic, with a weak husband whom she despises. Alas, he is lord Yronwood's younger son, and his support to her rule is necessary, so she suffers him, though he has fathered only one of her three children. (32) (Land, Command and Ambush) (Slain by King Bryce Dayne in prison, 381)
Lord Bryce Dayne: The lord of Starfall, Bryce has spent his whole life guarding against invasion from the Reach. He is stern and often harsh, his decrees unyielding. His son Markus dislikes him, and seldom is present at Starfall, preferring to remain at Blackmont or High Hermitage. His daughter is lovely as a summer day but is seldom seen outside the castle, and it's whispered he wishes her to die a maiden. The way Ser Frances Sand turned out has many suspicious whispers told in his direction, as well.[/s] (45) (Land, Scouting and Siege)
Ser Jon Celtigar: A devout follower of the Lord of Light, Jon Celtigar commands King Derek Baratheon's royal fleet with panache and verve. King Derek trusts Jon more than any living man, even having his brother and heir until six months ago squire under him. Jon was entrusted with bringing Derek's bride to him. He has clashed on occasion with Lord Manderly, though the two have a very vocal admiration for each others' prowess. He has a lack of respect for any other man living who does not follow R'hlorr, however. Can be considered humorless.[/s] (31) (Sea, Command and Blockade) (Slain by Vhagus Targaryen)
Lord Baxter Morrigen: Despite his funny first name, Lord Baxter's name elicits fear in any man who is stuck commanding an army against him. He has trained Westero's largest standing army, and drilled it thoroughly. It is said in many circles that if a man could outfight Everett Blackwood, it'd be him. He also desired Princess Nalya until the Sunslayer slew her brothers and made her ruling princess, so he has a grudge against near everyone. Oddly entertaining to spend time with, and has a touch with the common soldier most lords lack. (39) (Land, Command and Siege) (Slain by King Bryce Dayne's men, November 381)
Lord Captain Theon Harlaw: Named after his lady grandmother's brother, as news of his death at Rickon Stark's hands arrived the very day of his birth. Theon Harlaw is elegant, charming, and deadly. His sword Nightfall has slain many, and his grandmother Asha Harlaw (yes, that one, renamed when she became Lady of Ten Towers due to the Reader's lack of an heir) trained him in the ways of the world, namely, with limited resources, every battle must be worth the risk. He is now graying but not weak, and his banner is feared wherever the sea can be observed. His first battle was, ironically, the culling of Lannisport, which gave the North, his most bitter enemies, time to recover and counterattack the Goldlands. He secretly has King Kyle's cousin, Kayla, as a salt wife, though after she slew his rock wife in an argument, he decided to marry her officially. Stockholm Syndrome, Westeros Style. (49) (Sea, Command, Raiding, Ambush, Blockade) (Slain by Shaun Redwyne at the Shields, 382)
