The Ironborn make camp near their docked ships along the shore of the God's Eye. The king himself slept on one of the galleys, which had been purposed as quarters befitting his station, apparently preferring sleeping on the ship to an actual tent or quarters in the keep.

The crownlanders make camp on the edge of the ironborn camp, the newest lords of the Empire staying together. It'd almost seem like for protection, but why would they feel nervous here?

Lord Rykker along with a few other of the crownlander lords will visit their King upon their arrival, to pay their respects. It is the first time Donnel has met the man since he bent the knee to him. He doubts Killion will remember him.

They are directed to the galley the king had re-purposed as his quarters during the tourney. As expected, Killion did not remember Lord Donnel personally, having taken oaths of fealty for near fifty lord and landed knights after annexing the Crownlands. However, he was briefed on his vassal before the man was admitted entry, as it would not do for a king to look a fool. Killion was seated in a simple wooden chair, the spartan cabin of the galley having been arranged to hold court in some sense. It was not often so many of his vassals were in the same place, so making time for petitioners was necessary.

Donnel enters dressed in simple garb, made of good material to reflect his status, but not looking to be fashionable or gaudy. It was of blue and white, functional. He was of medium height and build, though muscles that were used to toil and combat revealed themselves on the skin that showed. A plain face framed by salt and peppered black hair is accented by a scar near his right eye. A simple coronet of brass rests on his head, denoting his status as lord. He kneels before his king. "Your Majesty, Donnel Rykker at your service."

Killion motioned for the man to rise.
"No need for formalities here, Lord Rykker. We are not in Krakenhal." he said graciously in greeting, before motioning to an empty chair.

Donnel takes the seat gladly, though he is unused to the gentle sway of the galley as it rests in harbor. "Thank you your majesty. I'm glad you and yours made it here safely to Eddards rest." Donnel says, using the rote by the books formalities drilled into him by his wife over the last few years. Nobles and such and such.

"Aye, it was a treacherous journey from Kings Landing to the Gods Eye." he replied sarcastically. "I've skipped rocks farther."
"Drink?" he inquired.

The sarcasm made a slight whooshing sound as it sailed right over Rykker's head "Certainly, and it is that road that has brought me here to petition you your majesty. My brother held the title of Warden of the Kingsroad under the Baratheons, and while he was..." (going off to try to fight and kill you, your ironborn, and every reaver this side of westeros) "... warring, I acted as his representative and kept the Kingsroad safe. Since he died, in the last four years I have still acted in that capacity, until you would place someone in that position. However, since that has never occurred, I am here to request that the position be filled."

"I took no titles from you or your brethren in the Crownlands." Killion replied, with a wave of his hand. "If your brother died holding it, the title is yours by right as far as I am concerned. Unless you have come to inform me someone else is more worthy of the responsibility?"

"I do not know of any" Donnel said simply. "But the position is not a hereditary one, but rather a appointment. I have not been appointed, so as of now I have not been acting with any authority. We have been waiting for a decree by you."

"Well as this is the first I have heard of it and you are the first to bring it to my attention, consider the position yours." the king replied, clearly, not placing much import in titles despite his collection of them.

"Very well. Thank you your majesty, that is all I wished to discuss. By your leave?" Donnel asks, rising to his feet

Killion waved him off, but seemed to think better of it before the man departed.
"This meeting has made it clear to me that I am not as informed on Crownland customs and laws as I should be," he said, with a touch of humility. "I have yet to name a Master of Laws for my small council. Would you be interested, Lord Rykker, in leaving with two titles instead of one?"

Rykker turns, surprised. "You would..." (Really expect me to take the fucking position as if I could be bought like some little puppy that'd be so loyal because I was fed snacks?) "... ask me to serve in that capacity? I would." He looks quizzically at the King "Wouldn't that give me some authority over the ironborn? This would create problems for you."
