"I believe you sent an army, even if not a giant one," Olyvar said. "But perhaps it's for the best. I imagine that battle will be fierce. Oh," he added, "I came across the oddest thing a year or so ago. We were sailing through the Stepstones when we saw a crocodile that was three times the size of our ship!"

Morgan gasped. "Seven hells! I've read about krakens and dragons but even I have not read of such a creature. What happened? Did you have to kill it?"

"Kill it?" He laughed. "We sailed away as fast as we could. It looked like it wasn't hungry thank the gods, but I'd heard rumors of the beast starting a few years ago. Who knows what could have created something so gargantuan?" He shrugged. "Truly the marvels of the world are endless."

"Yes. The gods like to toy with us. But what a marvel. I hope to see many strange things in the future."
She sighed. "I never knew I had a taste for adventure until I ran away to join the Citadel."

"That does seem like it'd have had to have been an adventure," Olyvar agreed. "Sneaking in and disguising yourself. I'm shocked it worked as long as it did, really." Sara chuckled at that.

Morgan glared at them both. "Don't you think I can pass convincingly as a young man? I mean, yes, it's much more convenient to be here as myself, but I think I could have done it."

Olyvar chuckled. "No man has ever tried so hard to disguise relieving himself," he said. "And you should really take it as a compliment. I trust our friend Sara would rather not be informed she has the appearance to be confused for a man," the other woman nodded with a joking smile.
"Most top heavy man for his size ever," she agreed.

Morgan laughed. "There is that," she murmured. "But no matter, we're here now, and doing well. As for the future, who knows what it will hold? I'm hoping for many more adventures, but I could do worse than make Oldtown my home."
Though she was not quite sure where Quentyn would factor into her future.

"Indeed," Olyvar agreed. "It is a wonderful city. I love the weather," he said companionably. "I have to head to the Arbor in two days to pick up a shipload of wine, if you'd like to come?"

Morgan glanced at Sara. "I'd like that. Would it fit in with our trip to Valyria? I have always been curious about the Arbor and it wouldn't hurt to pick up a keg or two to bring to Vhagus as a gift."

Sara shrugged. "By the time we got back, we'd have word of our invitation," she said. "I've never been there myself." Olyvar smiled. "I'll make sure you have a cabin, then."

"Thank you. You are a true friend," Morgan said. "Do you ever wish you'd stayed to pursue your learning?"

"Not for a second," Olyvar said. "I can buy books to learn. Having gold and wine and my own ships give me freedom to experience life, not read about what experiencing life is like."

"That's true, but it's not so easy for me. Sara and I have won a great victory here and we still have many more battles yet to fight. I doubt we'll ever have our own vessels to go sailing."
She felt a pang of longing for Quentyn and his ship, but even then, the decisions would not be hers to make.
"But I am pleased you are happy, of course."

Sara chuckled. "I could get a ship if I wanted one, I bet." Olyvar didn't dispute the point.
"I understand why you want to live here, it's just not the life I'd have picked. My father just didn't want a fourth son taking all of his brothers' inheritance, and I wasn't much of a sword. Especially for a northman," he half-jested. "Although I was the best at throwing knives. Used to make Devan furious, losing every match to me."
