The lands of House Vikary are set in an idyllic setting next to a river, between the ruined castle of Castamere, the Crag and Ashemark. Originally a small holdfast guarding a village of Vikary, that lay on the northern approach to Castamere, the Vikarys have slowly expanded the original holdfast into a substantial stone structure.
The stones of the three story Vikary Hall, essentially midway between a holdfast and Keep, along the river come from Castamere itself. One of two round flankers guard the north side of the Hall forms one end of the holdfast. The other end has the gate building with an arched entrance leading into the enclosure. Inside the courtyard are many stone work buildings and a covered well. There are also a postern gate and a sally port.

Lyonel Vikary returns to his home with his wife Cersei. By day, he spends long hours riding around and beyond his lands with a few men and long hours at night writing letters and consulting with his brother as well as Vikary Hall's maester, reputed to be quite good with sums.
Many of his family, friends and servants think the famed cavalry commander is clearly restless in this time of relative peace for the Goldlands and is merely keeping himself busy.
