"Well, ideally, we won't need to engage anyone." Robyn said, looking after Mychel, with a touch of worry, then looked at Kalvin, "don't be horrid. Kal" she said, frowning, "revenge can wait, until our goal is achieved, surely" it wasn't clear which one of them she was talking to.

"Nick is the one who hates him. I just think they were dangerous before they became giant demons." He frowned. There is a definite distance between the two now. Nick looks back and forth.
"Well, I am getting some sleep. Best to be on top of my skills when we go," he said.

"Sleep well Nick," Robyn said smiling at her brother, but does not look like she was going to leave.

Nick nods and leaves. Kalvin sits and rubs his jaw and sighs. He pours another glass for each of them. He slides her a letter. "Not a big deal?" The letter is a written appeal from her father, summoning him back to Mason Keep because of the kidnapping of Robyn and Amelia.

"I never said it was not a big deal." Robyn defended, looking at the letter, having the good grace to feel guilty, "I said it was not important right then, and it wasn't." She said, looking at him, not taking the wine just yet, "I was back, what could you have done when I was back."

The same thing I did while you were kidnapped," he said, "nothing. Apparently." He held the letter over the candle and let it burn to ash in his hand. "Anyone who can kidnap you and Amelia at the same time is a foe worth knowing about. I could be hunting the bastard down right now."

"I was going to tell you. I told you I was kidnapped, it was not exactly an conversation I wanted to have via candle." Robyn said watching the letter burn wondering if he was being symbolic. "I needed you here for now. When this is done, we can hunt him to heaven and back. I'll go with you." She said, looking at him, then she reached over to touch his hand, "are you angry with me?"

"Why are you doing this?" he said, not answering the question. "We have eight thousand men here, we can go in there and bargain for this girl easy as pie. If she's not dead yet they won't kill her to save their own skins from execution. Are you just trying to prove that you're still Robyn the invincible?" he said. "Because all of us can be hurt and isolated and alone." He frowned. "I'm always angry. Myself, mostly. If I were at the keep no one would dream of starting anything. Instead, while I'm plodding along in the water thinking of ways to kill the Ironborn, you're being bundled up and everyone ELSE is hunting you down."

"How dare you," Robyn said, shaking her head no bite to her words but her tone was pained. "You make it sound like I strategically waited to get kidnapped until you weren't there, well I didn't make you leave, Kalvin!" Her tone got more emotional towards the end, "you think I didn't want you coming after me, I spent the whole time hoping somehow you'd walk through the door and save me, but it didn't happen that way."
"And Robyn the invincible? I am the least invincible person here. That you think I'd put my reputation above something so important is hurtful as it is untrue. Is that what you really think of me? When I say I need to do this, it's not some personal battle for self worth." She looked away from him. "There are sorcerers in there, Kalvin, who can fly and use magic, and gods know what else" she looked at him again, shaking her head, "the second you charge that island. They'll do something. But by all means, let's attack it now, and then our only chance of finding he goes, and the information they tortured me for, and probably Amelia too, is useless. If you genuinely think we have more chance that way, I'll go get kick to come back and we can discuss that as an option."

Kalvin has never been particularly skilled at solving emotional or relationship problems, unfortunately, and he just sits further back in his chair. "I don't know what will work, I don't even know why this lady's really that important, I just know that two or three of you wandering an island under siege seems like it is excessively dangerous." He ran his hand through his hair, scratching his scalp, as he thought. "You think you and Nick alone are better equipped to confront sorcerers than all of us?" He shakes his head, knowing there's no use arguing with any of the Stark siblings. "Come back alive," he said. His voice is empty and the man seems older and more exhausted as the conversation wears on.

"I'm just saying sometimes there's better ways to do things than brute force... "
"But I think you just told me all I really needed to know..." she looked sadly at him, "do what you want Kalvin, storm the island. I don't care anymore."

"I'm storming the island," he said. "After you get your mission done." He looks impossibly frustrated. "I love you," he said. "But I can't watch you go off by yourself time and again. I want to be with you for this stuff, fight at your side and destroy our enemies together."

"By all means, come with me, all you have to do is lose fifty pounds of muscle and learn to move silently in the shadows," she said, frowning at him, eyes still sad, "I know, you want to be with me, I want to be with you too... You had no issue letting me go off with Nick to start trouble at tumbleton, that was an occupied fortress and we were fine." She touched his hand, trying to hold it, "I'm not trying to prove anything, I am trying to do my best for our home, which is all I have ever done, that woman could hold the key to the red powder."
She paused and sighed, "would it make you feel better... If Mychel stayed with the landing parties?"

"This isn't about him," he said. "I like the kid. Tumbleton was a fortress with armies far away from it, this is an island fortress under siege with sorcerers and gods know what else. And a raging battle will be fought too. I know this isn't pride, Robyn," he said, turning his hand up to hold hers. "I've never been there to protect you," he said. "Not even at Moat Cailin, or Riverrun, or when you fought Bryce, and now you've been kidnapped and tortured and you're going away again." He frowned. "I've waited almost two years, Robyn, two years to try being with you, and you keep going away. Is that supposed to be a hint?"

"You have protected me Kalvin, it's just been bad timing all round, it doesn't say anything about you." She squeezed his hand, "you know my issues... I'm trying to reconcile myself to them, but I do love you, I know that. But I think you need to come to terms with things yourself... I am not going to sit at winterfell waiting for you to come home, this is what marriage to me is going to be like sometimes, if you want that, then you don't want me, and if you expect that then you don't know me."
"You saved me life at the lake, you stopped me marrying that...Thenn monster, you can't be everywhere though," she touched his face to make him look her in the eyes, "it's not something I want to do... I feel I have to, it's too important to not do. I'm not hinting anything. I love you, but I'm scared."
