"For a second there I thought you were discussing your women," he joked. "But everyone knows Ironborn women don't wait to swallow."

"As I said, a land shapes it's people." he laughed heartily. "Consider yourself lucky if they don't bite."

"Lucky?" he said. "I'd feel like I'd wasted my gold. Every battle should leave a scar." More and more people show up. Most prominent looking of them all, naturally, is the human giant, Hollis Clegane. Actual giants had been sadly banned.

"Aye, looked like the Stark pup left you at least one, though from what I saw of him after you repaid him in kind." he remarked, looking at the assembling warriors. "Looks to be a fine turnout."

Lyonel turned to observe the man who had approached him before saying. "Ahh, Lord Rasp is it not? My kin fare well." After Lyonel acknowledged him, Maekar grabbed his spear and walked over beside the Westerman, watching the contestants trickle in. After a moment he said,"The Tyrell vines link many a family." He had replanted the spear in the ground, resting his hands on the butt and his chin on top of them. He glanced sideways at Vikary,"Would be nice if we all acted like we were of the same lineage though, remained loyal to one another."

"That pup is a dangerous man," he said. "as dangerous as anyone else here I've met, I think. Unless you have some other candidates."

"You clearly haven't met his Skaagosi pet." he replied. "Though at least that one has the benefit of predictable simplicity."

"I have heard of this Crowl. He really uses no weapon save fist?" Cedric asks. "But brutal and dim is easy to fight."

He snorted,"Cersei's brother was non other than Rycherd, and my father chose blood over fealty and payed for it with his life." He sighed,"But such is war, and not everything that happened in the rebellion can be blamed on him." He looked into Lyonel's eyes,"The loss of Highgarden, however, can be. And the restoration of it to our family can be placed on my shoulders, so any misgivings should be set aside on the matter."

Lyonel shrugged. "That may be so, but the gift of Highgarden from Arania Hightower of Oldtown was made to a junior branch of the Tyrells. My stepson's father was son to old Lord Harlan Tyrell, the Lord of Highgarden and descendant of many Lords of Highgarden before him. Arthur is Tyrell on both sides, his mother the granddaughter of Garlan the Gallant, the younger son of Lord Mace."

He nodded,"All well and good, but we cannot flourish if we try to choke each other out. I'd rather spend my time fighting my actual enemies, not Reachmen and fellow Goldlanders. This new peace with the Ironborn is a surprise, but I don't believe it'll last long." His voice and intonation almost gave a certainty to his statement.

Lyonel arched an inquiring eyebrow. "I agree. The peace will not last long. The Ironborn are too predatory and they will over-reach themselves soon enough. Where are you getting the impression that my stepson intends to fight you?"

"His self proclaimed title, the 'former heir to Highgarden', rings a certain type of bell." He raised an eyebrow back,"Makes it seem as if he as designs to rectify that." His face relaxed and he looked back out at the gathering horde,"The Ironborn are already over extended, they cannot sail through the middle of Westeros, which leaves them potentially fighting a two front war, it's only a matter of time before everyone sets upon the scavengers and reclaims the bits of themselves they've lost."

"Self proclaimed title? Who told you that?" said Lyonel with another arching of an eyebrow. "You are jumping at shadows. I can assure you my lord that the only title my stepson uses is 'Lord of Brightwater Keep.' However that still does not change the fact that Arthur was once heir to Highgarden. His father was the eldest of Lord Rycherd's two younger brothers and as Rycherd had no legitimate heirs........" he trailed off.
