"Dark humor has its own appeal, Cedric." Killion replied, clad in the newly crafted armor that had been fashioned from the scales of the sand wyrm they had battled together. It was about as light and strong as steel, but had the infinitely useful quality of not rusting in the briny sea air. "I'm sure there's a side splitter about Westerosi ex-pats getting into bed with the Golden Empire as well."
"Suppose I'll make the introduction, though I'm sure post of it will be repetitive for Vhagus." he continued, adopting what court protocol he knew, which came out more mocking than earnest. "Cedric Dayne who seems the exception to the recent rule that the only good Dayne is a dead one, Balor Swaan the Dragonslayer, and the cheerful lass is Elizza Satarys who shares a kinship with your half brother Nick."
"Don't suppose Reed will be gracing us with her presence?" he inquired, sounding genuinely disappointed.

Benjen studied the odd collection of people in front of him, wondering what they were all about. "Drink?" He asked, waiting for the table be brought to place the bottles on it.

"I'm Cal...Nick's sister," Eliza said. "But otherwise I can't really contest any of the points." Vhagus hadn't bothered heading into the river; people with dead dragons on their standard clearly weren't going to negotiate or treat with him, and he is also a bit of an asshole. "I'll take a drink, thanks." Cedric looked over the Westerosi.
"The Queen is rather busy with other affairs," he said. "Battle is the last place any of us wish to face any of the dragons, for reasons I am sure we can all agree are obvious. But the undesirability of the task does not excuse us from having to perform it. Queen Janelle has seen the signs, and events are surely not proving her wrong. The dragons are unbalancing the world to the point of no return. They must be laid to rest."

"What has she seen?" Benjen asked the man, pouring himself a cup of whiskey and taking a deep drink. "And is that just the big reptiles or the Targaryen and all their families? My wife is a Targaryen and I'd be very upset if any of your lot tried to come after her."

"She has seen the past," Cedric said. "Sorcery had died out, in the days of Robert Baratheon and before. The gods had left us alone, to live and die as we would." He gestured with his head. "Daenerys Targaryen changed that when she found her dragons. They are an affront to the elder gods, and a source of power for the new wave of sorcerers. Men like Vhagus, Bryce Dayne, the councilmembers of Asshai, and more. Regardless of their allegiance, affiliation, or how they use sorcery, the dragons are the key to its power. And she has seen that what we have endured already will be as nothing in the days to come if they are not stopped."

"All due respect to Her Grace, but that only sounds like a problem to those who have made enemies of these sorcerers or dragons." Killion said, not doubting Reed's visions. After all, he had seen evidence of the Grey Man she had warned him of. "Dragons flourished in Westeros for over a century before the Dance. I recall no records of magical calamities then."

"They did," Cedric agreed. "As did the dragons in this last century. Before Yeen," he added then, "before it all fell apart." Eliza spoke then.
"Enemies or allies, the Doom of Valyria consumed everyone within its radius," she said. "And Her Grace has seen the same thing again, but across the world." She blinked at something in the distance. "And as the sorcerers fall into corruption further and further, they become harder and harder to kill." Her sharp eyes find Benjen. "Cassadar and Harrys and Zenobia's deaths strengthened Bryce and Vhagus and Oriax, and Bryce's death strengthened the others. Your friend Amelia is growing stronger without even realizing it, all because more power is finding its way to fewer people." She concludes. "who will stop Vhagus when he is twice as strong as he is now?"

Benjen narrows his eyes at the woman, taking in all she said. "So you kill the dragons, then what? Magic disappears? Vhagus Blackfyre loses all of his power?" He spat into the river then drank from the wine bottle.

Eliza rolls her eyes. "It's a goddam better plan than fighting his wars for him. And it's hardly Vhagus who is our chief concern." She frowned. "You know what sort of power the demons from Yeen seek to unleash. Can you kill a god twice?" She shakes her head. "He has been responsible for almost all your pain, and he gets you to fight with him anyway."

"I sought this out," Benjen stated, shaking his head. "And it is not because I like Vhagus or believe he deserves my assistance. But I want to know the man - how else will I face him?" He drinks again from the wine then sets it down. "So how do you plan on killing two dragons? And what is happening with these gods?"

"They're reptiles," she said. "And Vhagus's little pet projects have resulted in Meraxes nearly destroying the world, and Balerion and Vhagar stirring from their slumber as well. I imagine he has kept this information to himself."

Benjen's expression darkened, turning to look back at Vhagus for a moment before his eyes went to Greyjoy. "I don't suppose you knew anything about this, hm?" He tapped the pommel of his sword for a moment. "Would be quite a sight for his army, seeing the man slain by an ally on the banks of this river."

Killion sat through the discussion of gods and demons in silence, occasionally rolling his eyes or sighing impatiently.
"No, we do not sit up late at night exchanging ghost stories and fairy tales." was his sardonic reply. "Besides, it is terribly rude to discuss a topic in length that your companion has no footing in. So I try not to drone on about sailing and tides while he does not bore me with talk of sorcery."

"I forget the Ironborn aren't big thinkers," Benjen responded, turning back to the representatives of the Order. "We will face each other on the battlefield in two days time, but don't take it as anything personal. I think we have certain things to discuss, when the time is right."
