"To what end?" Lyonel asked. "What's the point of lighting such spot-fires if they can be easily extinguished, apart from causing a nuisance? Joining his bandit force seems the only way he can protect the small folk he gives arms to. Unless there is some deeper purpose to his little protest."

The lord thought a moment. "I believe he thinks that enough sparks can light a fire," he said, "though he usually just makes a bit of noise and barely a puff of smoke."

"How many of the smallfolk have joined his efforts? If we have to investigate with them on his side, we could end up being turned in circles."

"A few hundred, at least," the elder lord said. "Probably thousands of sympathizers."

Korben frowns as he paces about slowly, maulling things over in his head, "So this bandit raids and burns places of repute, and arms the smallfolk to fight in his steed. He inspires them to act with his attacks, and rakes in the riches from it..." He looks to lyonel and the elder lord, "He's probably using these raids to convince the small-folk he fights for them. They take the hits while his group raids another location, leaving more fodder to fight..." Korben looks to the lord.
"Where was the last place struck?" He asks, curious if it was anywhere close by.

"Out on the border with the Tully lands," the lord said. "The small folk there lean more to the wolves than the lions sometimes."

"I can understand that..." Korben says as he thinks it over, "And the one before that? Where was that attack?"

"Some old fortified sept near a creek," the lord said. "But bandits have used it for years. Called Crannog's Folly."

"Burning his own bandit hideout. Seems the boarder is where we'll find this man..." Korben says as he looks to Lyonel, "I think...we may be able to lead this bandit into a trap. But we'll need something valuable to carry...and someone to act as bait."

"What do you have in mind? asked Lyonel, with a faint smile and a slightly raised eyebrow.

"This bandit seems keen on hitting targets of wealth and burning them. So, we'll use a fake delivery of goods, or perhaps gold, to one of these boarder towns. Make a big show of it, paying some of the peasants bountifully for their services..." Korben said as he kept thinking of his plan, "One of the peasents will likely tell this green bandit. And when he comes to raid this place, we come in on his rear and slay him."

Lyonel nodded. "Seems as good as plan as any."
He thought for a minute. "One of us will need to travel with the convoy and the other will need to command the strike force." He turned to Lydden. "You will be happy to supply a few men for the convoy? Purely for show of course."

"Take a dozen," he said offhandedly. "They'll have armor and crossbows."

"It'd be best if you led the ambush. I don't have the best of luck with that, and I can hold my own as bait..." He then looked to bram, "Thank you, Lord Lydden. Your generosity is appreciated."

The lord nods. "Of course, Ser Korben. Anything to rid my lands of these...annoyances."
