With the magnificent view of the godswood and all that. Looking a tad more lavish now than it did before, it seems Joanna has done a bit of remodelling.

After playing with his sons upon his return for a good while, Benjen makes his way to his wife's chambers. He looks somewhat drawn and a bit pale, but some life and colour have come back to him since leaving King's Landing.

Joanna looked up at him from where she was sitting. "Welcome back," she said, not looking too lively herself.

"I see the streets are full of people again," Benjen says, standing by the door for a moment before slowly entering. "That's good. People are good."

After briefly considering if her husband had been hit over the head during the battle, she sighed and rose, walking over to Benjen. She studied him for a while, and then pulled him in for a hug. When at first his slight resemblance to Nick Snow had been a good thing, then now it definitely was not, she thought.

Benjen hugs her back tightly, having longed for the embrace of another human being for a while now. After a while he leaned back, still holding her and looked into her eyes. "I've never seen anything like it, Joanna. Gods be good if our children never have to know war like that."
He meant of course children they might have in the future.

"It takes a lot more effort to pull yourself together after you've lost it," she wisely said after pulling back, whatever softness there had been in her eyes gone now. "You have to stay strong, or our children will have no future." She noticed his hair had grown a little longer than she liked, and reached out a hand to toy with the ends. "Come on," she said, giving him a small smile, "I'll cut your hair."

Soft music plays outside, a haunting melody of love and loss and then the promise of spring.

"Come on," she said, giving him a small smile, "I'll cut your hair." "Not yet," Benjen said, shaking his head. Apparently not even his wife understood, but then she hadn't been there. He'd spend some time with the Crowl and some whiskey. That would do it. "I'll be going north, Beyond the Wall. I'm going to need all the extra hair that I can," She took Joanna's hand and squeezed it for a moment. "Let's see how Bryce Dayne likes mammoths and giants."

If Joanna had sympathized with him before, then now she looked at him as if he'd just grown an extra head. "You are going Beyond the Wall?" she asked incredulously. "Now?! In the middle of the war?" The wildlings were even worse than the Ironborn in terms of fleas and dinginess, if that could be believed. She took a deep breath. Reasoning with Benjen vaguely reminded her of reasoning with her cousin Kelsey. "You will never make it there and back in time, let alone with an army of.. wildlings. The war will be over by then," she said.

"The war is far from being over," Benjen responded with a shake of his head. "And likely the Crowl will remain there longer than I will. I need to see our way past the Wall and to the Wildlings but after that... who knows what happens. I won't be too long."

Joanna sighed. "Surely there is someone else you can send. You know you'll be needed here more than at a negotiations table," she said. Or.. negotiations hut?

"If I want the wildlings to fight for me I will have to make them," Benjen responded, firm on the matter. "Their ways are different than ours. Kal Stark has been going to war for much longer than I have. He'll do."

"I doubt you will be taking King's Landing from Dayne with an army of men with clubs wearing fur," she commented.
