I don't think Septon Meribald or the Elder Brother are particularly important considering the way the show has changed things. I don't get the hype over the Hound=Gravedigger theory but even if it happens, it's not "crucial" as such.

There's "hype" because that means there's a good chance that the Faith's champion will be the Hound, which will mean brother vs brother for Cersei's trial. Frankengregor vs the Hound would be pretty epic.
