Jared is dressed in loose fitting clothes and has his sword out. He absently swings it back and forth to loosen up whle he waits, the sharp blade singing in the cold air.

Robyn looked at him as she arrived, "I thought this was a spar," she commented, "we are not using blunted blades?"

"Blunted blades teach you being hit is all right," he said. "Being hit is death. Now, we aren't trying to kill each other, here, so like, don't actually kill me. Let's see what you know." He raises his sword in an unfamiliar way. Some variation of a high guard.

"Like wise," she said, a little more nervous now, but she was never one for backing down.
She raised her own, smaller blade, getting into a stance where she moved ever so slightly from foot to foot, ready to move out the way and jab in when they missed, hopefully. As such, she raised her blade to cover her torso, planning on diverting any attacks that were on target.

Robyn is quick and light on her feet, but it takes exactly three seconds for her to realize Jared is a whole different class of warrior. He drives her back, his strange stance enabling him to attack from anywhere.
Robyn: 92 Jared: 134
Jared knocks her on her ass, but smiles. "Not bad. You need to get closer to me. I outrange you by way too much for you to dodge forever."

Robyn sat on the ground for a moment, taking in what he said and smiled up at him, a glint in her eyes, as she stood up and nodded, getting back into position, she attacked again, taking his comments on board and was more proactive in trying to break through his defence.

He clearly lets her build confidence, but he is so good it isn't even insulting. "Good, now," he says, as her blade narrowly misses him, stepping into the stab, his side nearlllly grazed, "remember there's no such thing as a fair fight," his hand slaps her sworm arm away and he sweeps her feet out from under her.

When she hit the ground she immediately rolled to the side, in case he brought his sword down after her and jumped back to her feet, "I should try and find a way to make it unfair in my favour," she was talking to herself as much as him, it was difficult to see how. Her usual fall back was being quick, but that was certainly not working.
This time rather than go straight at him, she tried to feign left the attack to the right.

Robyn: 147 Jared: 134
Robyn actually gets him to overcommit a bit and her sword nearly hits him before she pulls the strike. Jared grins. "Swordsmanship must run in your family." As she feels good about herself, he spends the next few minutes hammering her from all directions. "You have potential, my lady. Develop your skills and you could be a legend." He 'winked'. "Like me."

After having her arse handed to her for a few more rounds, she stopped and held up her hands, indicating she had had enough now. She sheathed her blade again and smiled at him, "a legend I had never heard of." She retorted, but her tone was not malicious, more teasing, "I don't want to be a legend, I just want to... Not die when I defend my family. thank you, Jared, you have been very helpful. I feel like I learnt plenty. We should do it again before these weddings are over."

"Anytime you want," he says. "Keep practicing." He flips his sword into its sheath with a smooth move, clearly a party trick. "It's been fun."

"I will do, I will be sure to see you around, Jared," she said, and waved over her shoulder to him as she returned into the castle.
