Herlon grinned. "That is good of you, Borros. Oh and... if you happen to go by the river today, could you take my bucket? I'm out of water as it happens." He bobbed his head again and slowly pushed himself out of his chair.

"Of course, Harlan. I was planning to go later this afternoon as it was." he glanced at Alanna with a sly smile. "I will kill two birds with one stone."

"Very good, very good!" The old man said, finally standing. "I will give you the bucket then and will wait for you." He smiled a toothless old grin.

Harrick helped the old man back to his home as Borros finished his breakfast, before departing to run to see to his daily errands.

//// "You did well to get her this far, Alyn." Borros said, offering the man his aid in walking back to the hall. "We'll see the girl cared for and placed in Lady Uller's care when she is able. Of that you have my word as a knight." "Ser Tristifer is fallen then?" he inquired, fearing he already knew the answer. The two had fought side by side at Blackhaven and he would hate to see him survive that only to be slain by such a traitorous wretch as Dayne. Alyn simply nods at the question, his face grim as they walk back to Ser Borros' hall. Fortunately Lydia was over at Perren the goatherd's house, playing with his daughter. "They came in the night," Alyn began, sitting himself down and peeling back the bandage on his leg, an arrow hole straight through his leg. "I woke up to hear horses and looked out of the window. There was fifty of them, dragging people out of their homes, killing them in the streets." He looked down to collect himself. "There's a disused well behind my house and I managed to hide in it just as they came to look through my home. From there I saw it all." He looks up at Borros. "They dragged Ser Tristifer out naked and made him kneel in front of Dayne. They... held him tight while that bastard began peeling his skin off." Alyn's eyes began to water at the memory, his face cracking. "They made his daughter watch, sweet little Bella, and when he was dead... he flayed her face!"

The first knight of Brimstone may have been a far distant relative of the Ullers, but as Borros heard the harrowing tale he felt keenly their famed wroth.
"He shall be avenged." he swore with seething conviction. "They all shall."
Borros threw on his chainmail as he barked orders to the servants to saddle his horse and called for Harrick and Herrick.

"There's more," Alyn said from where he sat, as servants quickly rushed about to ready Borros' things. "There was a man with them called Dominic Sand, I think. I don't know if the name means anything to you, but he seemed to be Dayne's second in command."
Borros thought had may have heard the name before but couldn't be sure. Alyn seemed a little calmer now, though he looked awfully tired. "I used to be a fighting man..." He said quietly. "I should have done something..."

"There was nothing you could have done." Borros assured him. Though the bastard's name sounded familiar, there was such a large amount of them on Dorne, it was hard to keep track of one Sand from the next. "When your knight was slain, your responsibility was to Lady Uller. Your warning may save Brimstone from the same fate. You did all that you could and your leal service has been noted. You are welcome here."

"Thank you, for your words and your invitation to stay here," Alyn said, closing his eyes. "Once my leg is healed I am willing to help fight these bastards." He grunted and rose, favouring his better leg. "Could you show me to where your wife brought Bella?"

"Alanna is my paramour." he corrected, as he readied himself and turned to his guardsmen. "Herrick, show Alyn to Hardin's house."
He then turned to Harrick and gave him a list of preparations that needed to be made. The levies needed to be raised, with all men (and women who were willing) of fighting age equipped with weapons of some sort, drilled, and organized. Most would just receive simple wooden spears, but Borros knew those who employed bows or axes in their daily trade would use the arms they had. He also ordered sentries to be posted at all times, the northern road into town barricaded with debris and sharpened stakes, and palisades or cover of some sort erected on the roofs of the houses for archers to fire down. Last, he ordered a dozen buckets of water to be filled at all times in each home in case of fire. In the dry climate, one thrown torch could set the whole town ablaze.

Herrick nodded and helped Alyn walk to Old Herlon's house, while Harrick took a mental note of the orders. He would carry them out efficiently while Borros was away. In the midst of Borros' preparations Delena came in, looking confused.
"Husband what is going on?" She asked. "Who was that man that came out of our house?"

"Frances Dayne has razed White Dunes and put its populace to the sword." he answered, respecting his wife enough not to sugarcoat it. Still, he knew to leave out the grisly details. "I ride for Hellholt to inform Lady Uller."

"Good gods..." Delena says, shock writ on her face. "Yes, Lady Uller needs to know. Are we going to be alright?" She tried to calm herself, then sent a servant to fetch Lydia. "We will face this threat," She said resolutely.

"We will be fine." he said, with more certainty than he felt, placing a reassuring hand on her cheek. "Harrick will be overseeing the necessary preparations in my absence and I am sure Lady Uller will provide the forces to see this transgression avenged. You need not worry."
