Morgan's blush deepened and she bit her lip, hating herself for the compliment. She reminded herself that she didn't like men unless they were heroes from books or songs.
"Very well then. Please have a seat and I am sure my cousin will do her best to aid you. Shall I call for refreshment?"

Joanna had been silent, mostly because what was happening was unbelievable, as well as highly amusing - her undefiled cousin Morgan blushing at the words of an Ironborn man. She debated whether to warn her later about "visiting his ship".
"Well, I am no merchant myself," she began, motioning to a servant to pour the man some wine, "but our family does have people working directly for us that deal in rare goods. You have shown such kindness to my dear cousin here that I am more than happy to deal with you. Since you return from Mantarys, well.. You must know the dragon question is coming."

Quentyn shrugged. "It does exist, and I've seen it with my own eyes. Hopefully for the last time."

Morgan's eyes widened. "You have seen a dragon, my lord?" Her voice was low and awed. "What will happen now?"

"Who can know?" Quentyn answered, "But odds are, they keep burning Eastern cities until some merchant prince gets annoyed enough to hire an assassin. For the Targaryen, not so much the dragon."

"One can hope," Joanna said with a wry smile, and looked to Quentyn. "Where are you planning on taking your ship after Lannisport? Northern Wind, was it?"

"Yes, that's her. We'll make a quick stop at Pyke to see the King, then homeward. After that, who knows?"

The Lady Lannister seemed to consider something. "How many men do you have on your crew?" she asked, innocently enough.

"Hundred-fifty, give or take a few." Quentyn responded, a quizzical look on his face. "Why?"

"Then perhaps I might have another business proposition for you," she said, and looked round to Morgan. "I am terribly sorry; we can continue catching up in a few moments. If you could excuse us - Arthur will show you to your room so you can settle in."
Arthur Banefort raised an eyebrow, but said nothing and politely escorted Morgan and her people out of the room, closing the door behind them.
Joanna turned back to Quentyn. "I know you Ironborn are obviously not mercenaries, but there might be some.. how do you call it, iron price to be reaped in addition to coin, should things go awry with a certain business negotiation with the Volantene."

Quentyn half turned to watch Morgan as she walked out, returning his eyes to Joanna when the door shut.
"I would need some more specifics before agreeing to anything. Is this a warship? Diplomatic mission? Merchants? Not that I'm opposed to killing any of those, I just like to know what to expect."

"A diplomatic one," she replied. "I suspect they have some fighters on board as the seas are quiet dangerous nowadays. The crew should be 200 in total. Still, it might not even be necessary if they just leave peacefully. If they do not, I would like to know there is someone I could turn to. I couldn't possibly send one of my own after them."

He chuckled. Fucking Greenlanders and their etiquette.
"Of course not. That would be rude. What's the reasoning? They planning something you don't like, or do you just not like Volantenes?"

She smiled. "A bit of both, you could say. I can't say what they're planning, but they might have a bad reaction to something that is bound to happen soon," she said. "Of course I wouldn't want to keep you grounded here in Lannisport, but I think they should be leaving in a week or so."

Quentyn thought about it for a moment. "Not too much longer than I was planning on staying. And the crew won't mind the extra time to waste their plunder on wine, dice, and whores. But there is the matter of payment beyond the ship's hold, which may well be empty."
