A few days after the Long Night, the remaining court of House Stark assembles in the solar. King Terrence is bedridden, suffering from nightmares, and Prince Benjen effectively rules with Lord Frey.

In the few days since the killing Prince Benjen has not been seen by many. Finally the Prince calls for those who have survived to come to his solar.
The Prince wears black, a small necklace in the shape of a black stone about his neck. His father's crown is on his head and he sits quietly behind his desk, Lord Frey beside him.

Lars goes to meet the Prince. Still nursing his wounds from the battle only a few days prior. He kneels and bows before the Prince and awaits the others.

Raven is dressed in her black leather pants with a pale blue and black patterned shirt as she enters the room. Her hair is pulled back into a long ponytail as a dainty icy blue jeweled necklace adorning her neck.
Her body was sore from the battle but she still gives Prince Benjen a small grin, glad that they still live. She knew he mourned his family, her heart hurt for him.

Arania joined what remained of the court in the solar. She had tried to see the Prince several times since that bloody day but been politely rebuffed each time. When she now laid eyes on him, his face pale and drawn, her first thought was how heavy the crown looked upon his head. She nodded to Lord Frey and moved toward the Prince, standing as close as was polite to the heavy wooden desk. All she could think about was when they had been at the Tourney of the Five Kingdoms, she and Ben and Catherine and Amelia...it was only a short while ago but it seemed like another lifetime.

Amelia and Danya showed up, both wearing black dresses to signal mourning. For once the former was dressed respectfully.
Ami saw Arania and gave her a simple nod, unable to smile just now.

With a last glance toward Benjen, Arania moved to stand beside Amelia. She offered a hug. "I'm sorry," she murmured, as she could think of nothing else to say.

Amelia returned the hug, which was easier now that she had lost most of her weight. "It's awful..." She whispered to Arania, tears welling in her eyes.

Crowl was permitted entrance, though whether it was because he wouldn't let the guards decline him entry or because he actually belonged was another matter entirely. He watches the Prince with the crown on his head with a sad smile.

Noticing that all those he had expected would come were there, Benjen rose. He had still not cut his hair or his beard and so looked almost as wild as the Crowl.
"Thank you all... I... wanted to ask how everyone is doing," He said quietly. "Are you all well?"

"I am fine, your Grace. No more bumps and bruise than I am used to", She grinned, stepping forward. "The questions should be, are you well? And what can we do for you?"

Arania held Amelia tightly and things were almost as they had been before. She opened her mouth to say something else, but she heard Ben speak behind her. She let go of Amelia and turned to look at him, wanting badly to embrace him as well. She didn't think it would be appropriate to speak, so she just nodded. She wished that he did not look so horribly heartbroken...
Her eyes were drawn by Raven when she stepped forward, breaking the mournful silence of the room.

It was times like these that Lars remembered why he followed the Prince so loyally. With so much that had happened to him, the Prince still looked to see how everyone else was. "I will heal. I'll be ready to go wherever you need, whenever you need."

Karyl watched as the Prince spoke, having put himself on the prince's bodyguard retinue after the fight. He was worried about the well being of his friend, there wasn't a night that had gone by since the fight where Benjen had heard the prince not crying himself to sleep. And even then the mutters of his wife's name once the prince was asleep. Crowl had taken it upon himself to station himself at the door at night alone so as to spare the other men how their prince was doing without his usual facade.

Benjen listened to those who spoke and forced a smile, though he felt grateful to have such friends and family. "All you can do for me is remain as loyal as you have been. Especially now."
He paused for a moment, suppressing the memory of his wife's corpse. "Everyone I know in Eddard's Rest lost somebody last night, not just me. We mourn for all of them. They are... with the Old Gods now."
