A holdfast amongst the hills a few hours from Winterfell, north of a bridge and river.

Theobald's left hand moved to the reins of his horse, drawing it slightly to make the gelding follow him down the hill toward the holdfast. He had ridden for a few days and the cold had begun creeping into his bones and Theobald was hoping for a good night's sleep indoors before he continued his journey south to Winterfell.
As he came closer to the holdfast, he rose his right hand in the air as he moved forward. He wasn't to sure how the men inside the holdfast would react, but the clans did the gesture to each other to show they came in peace.
"Hello in there" he shouted when he believed to be at proper distance to be heard.

A thin trickle of smoke rises from the holdfast's ceiling, and he can smell roasting boar. "Who is it?" a loud and obnoxious voice calls out.

Theo felt the smell of boar enter his nostrils and that smell made his mouth water. He hadn't had such a meal since before he left the clan holding those two weeks ago.
"Theobald Wull of Clan Wull" he said in his proudest voice, going for his full clan name. "I come here asking for a night's shelter and maybe something to eat. I have rabbits pelt if you need to trade for it."

"Come on in; but be quick; fuckin cold out outside," the voice says.
When he enters, he sees a dozen men and half as many women sitting around the fire, a spit boar rotating on it. "On the road to Winterfell?"

Theo led the horse to shelter, before he headed inside, carrying the stuff the horse had been carrying for him. As he entered he gave the people inside a firm nod of acknowledgement before finding a empty place to dump his stuff in.
"Aye, and you? Here for the winter or seeking shelter just like I have?" he said as he sat down, close to the fire, placing the greatsword in his lap.

"Winter, we're keeping the roads free and clear. Bandits like to take over stretches of lawless ground when the snows come."

Theo gave a simple nod, feeling it unnecessary to respond to stated facts. The other clans usually began interfering with each other as snow began to fall as it were easier to move undetected during these times. That was common sense if the bandits did so too, although they didn't have the honor and traditions that the clans did.
"So how are things at Winterfell? We don't get many news up around the Bay of Ice of late, especially now that the weather is growing colder." he said before he craned his neck, trying to free a knot that had begun building since sleeping on the ground for all that time.

"Well, the wedding, of course, and while Lord Rickon is around there's never too much trouble. How are the hills?"

Theo shrugged.
"The hills are preparing for winter, the youngs are readying to go to Winterfell, the old men are preparing for their hunting trips and other than that it's business as usual, trying the other clans from stealing our cattle. The wolves have been quiet for some time now, but that is likely to change now. Wedding, you say? That means the Starks are busy with celebrations." he said and scratched his chin. "Do they still keep the one they call a maester at Winterfell or has he gone south to Eddard's Rest?"

"Maester Harlyn never leaves, I don't think." The men look at each other. "Why wouldn't they have a maester?"

Theo shrugged once more, stiffling back a cough before he answered.
"I am not custom with how maesters work, Clan Wull hasn't had much dealings with them. Our clan guide and some of the older men are the one's that deal with our healing and teaching us what we need to survive in the clanhold. So do you know anything about this Maester Harlyn? I have been told that maesters are quite skillful healers."

"Skillful enough, I guess," the large, bearded leader says. "Never really talked to him, myself; we're not exactly on a first name basis with Lord Stark, after all."

Theo chuckled, staring at the roasting boar with a longing look.
"That is good to hear.." he said with a nod, losing himself in his own thoughts for a moment before returning to the present. "So I never caught your name I believe, it's not proper to share a meal with someone that you don't know the name of, at least not amongst Clan Wull."

"Jon of the River. Take a seat, have some boar before you continue on south. About another...three hours to Winterfell, no more. The town outside it is packed near to bursting with all the northern lords there." Jon slices off some of the haunch and offers it to him on a wooden plate.
