"I advise," she said. "I design ships. I make charts and maps and such." She walks to her window. "I run little people who give the secrets that you bg warriors use to reave and conquer."

"I suppose we all serve where we are most able." he replied, with only the tiniest bit of derision. "Then are you the one responsible for those floating eyesores I am told will carve an empire?"

"I am," she said. "I apologize for the aesthetics, though it makes me wonder if the Arbor got you too used to pretty things. War is ugly. Why should the tools be any different?"

"Only pretty women." he replied with a pointed stare, returning the slight with one of his own. "Besides, it is typically the most beautiful things that are most deadly."

"Are you saying the rose is deadlier than the kraken?" she asks. "You did spend too much time down there. Pretty gets defiled. Ugly is the defiler."

"I see why my father keeps you around." he chuckled, favoring her with a warm smile. "Wit has value in itself. Otherwise we end up with a whole kingdom of Blackwalls."
"I will wait to pass judgment on your monstrosities until I see what they can do firsthand. Have you ever paid the iron price or do your notions concerning war only come from what you have heard and read?"

"I killed my husband for beating me for drowning his salt wife, Prince Killion," she said. "But I am nearly a dwarf and have never been in the finest of health. Forgive my womanly weakness, but before you do, remember that I also am in charge of the cooks preparing your food," she said with an evil grin.

Killion paused for a moment of uncertainty at the threat, letting silence hang, before laughing again.
"I think we will get along just fine." he smiled, looking her up and down, wondering what man had shamed himself being killed by something so small. "What did the salt wife do to earn your ire?"

"Should it matter? She is property." Sarai yawns. "We pretend they are real people, Killion, but when you are a woman, you know better. If she takes my husband's seed and bears him a son, it leads to only trouble. Better to take care of the problem then and there. Besides, Ironborn men start thinking of them as...well, not salt wives, start listening to their tales of father's gold and how they could have land and power if they went home or married them for true. It has weakened our moral fiber," she concluded. "Salt wives should be passing fun, then offerings to the only god. The true god. For the bloodline to remain pure. Even Lord Captain Harlaw has greenlander blood in those icy veins of his."

"Aye, but she was his property." his tone more playful than serious. "And I see no weakness in these lands. I see a strength that the rest of the world will see soon enough."
"Besides, it is those very bastards that will helm your monstrosities. Best hope there is more iron than milk in their blood if they are to succeed."

"We can only hope." She shrugs. "The trebuchets work. The greenland walls will crumble."

"If that is the case, perhaps you will keep your post when I wear the Driftwood Crown." he replied with a smirk, standing to leave.

Sarai just arches an eyebrow as he leaves. When Killion leaves, she hears her whipping some woman in the room. apparently she had kept the rest of her late husband's salt wives.

Striding into the main hall of the castle, Harwyn carried the edict Euric had sent. Glancing around the hall slowly, he looked for any familiar faces. "Harwyn Goodbrother, as requested." There was a verbal sneer in his tone, but Harwyn smiled.

Killion was milling about the hall, having just finished a few drinks and a round with one of his salt wives.
"Goodbrother?" he said, part question and part amused statement. "We had thought you dead."
