Kyle decides that he has had enough of looking at books for one day, which was about five seconds, the stands next to Arthur at the bowl.
He joins in looking for clues as to what it could be for.

It looks like someone cuts someone sitting in the chair with a knife and washes the blood away. It is hard to imagine the point behind it.

Kyle thought his subconscious was being very unhelpful.
He looked around the room, for anything that seemed out of place, another door, an staircase, any idea if the thing they were looking for was in this room. He thought the extra dagger might be handy, and so looted that.

After extensive looking, Kyle does see an expensive cuff link that goes to someone important's robe on the floor. Whatever this room is, it warrants some serious visitors.

Kyle looks at the cuff link and picks it up, waste not. He looked at it, to see if he could see a house Sigil or any kind of identifying markings.

No markings, but being solid gold, there are only three or four of the septons at Summerhall that would wear it. It clearly belongs to a septon and not a lord.

Arthur fought the urge to spit in the bowl, just to see if anything would happen. "Seems like some kind of sorcery," he said, looking at Kyle doubtfully when he snatched the dagger. "Perhaps you should leave that here so as not to rouse any suspicions? Or.. do you think we should try to see what happens if there's blood in the bowl?"

"I have already followed you through literal shit.. and now you want me to like.. bleed into a bowl for you?" he asked arthur, raising an eyebrow. He imagined you needed to a Sorcerer to make it work anyway.

"Nah," said Arthur with a wry smile, having just had a similar thought himself, as if they were.. the same person. Kind of hypocritical of the Faith to condemn everyone else for using magic when they had a whole room in their restricted wing for rituals, presumably. He took another look around to see if there was anything else of note before they could head off to inspect other rooms.
"To the other side of the corridor, then? We should still have some time," he told Kyle.

They have about eight minutes. There is nothing else of note in the room.

Finally giving up on the room, Kyle looked to Arthur,
"Perhaps we should look to release those people in there... Cause a diversion..."

"That could buy us more time," he agreed. "And help free a lot of presumably innocent people," he added as an afterthought. With that, he went back to the other room to see if the guard posted there perhaps had a ring of keys on his belt.

The guard does have a key ring. He looks to them. "Were you two trying to find something?" he asked. "Were in there a long time."

Kyle looks at the guard, "we were err..." He looked at Arthur..."We err.." At a loss, Kyle draws the dagger he retrieved from inside the room, and tries to kill the guard,
