The old man grunted, evidently a laugh. "You think I know anythin'? No one knows about 'er, 'swhy she's still runnin' free." He shook his head and drank from his ale, while the serving wench came and brought Dud his fish.
"Don't listen to old Gerrick, he's had too much ale," She said with a soft voice. "Some folk around here quite like Ella."

Dud thanked the server for the fish. "Quite like her?" Dud responded with a bit of a laugh but also with some surprise. "I don't think the Tully's like her too much." Dud cut into his fish and ate a few bites. He gestured to the other seat at his table. "Sit with me. Might be I don't want to look for this Ella if she's good. Why don't you tell me about her." Dud said, knowing full well he was hunting this bandit down either way. The good graces of the Tully's was more important than some small folk hero.

The serving girl sits, not having to serve anyone else for the moment. "Well, Ella she... sometimes she leaves things for people in places. The smallfolk, money and such. Just little things, but it is appreciated." She smiles shyly. "I share her name too, so I can't help but like her..."

"Share a name? Then it's a pleasure to meet you, Ella. I am Dudley Mudd." Dud said. "This bandit sounds like a hero of this town rather than a menace then." Dud thought for a moment on how to approach further, and then speaks softly, only loud enough for the serving wench. "Does she leave things inside the town itself? How often does she help support this town? If I know the intricacies maybe I can convince Lord Tully to rethink the bounty." Dud questions, trying to gain some useful information while lying about his true intentions.

Ella shook her head. "I do not know where she places things, as no one wants to say. What I've heard are only... rumour." She looked about. "It seems most of the people who get robbed are the ones traveling between here and the mountains that begin west a few leagues west."

"Well thank you, Ella. Can I buy you a drink for your time, or are you not allowed to partake while working?" Dud said thinking of becoming one of those travelers between here and the western mountains. It may be the easiest way to find the bandit but it would put him at her mercy, not tactically the most advantageous. "Anyone close to you received these gifts from her?"

Ella was about to reply when the barman gave her a stare and she shook her head. "No, no. No one I know," She quickly muttered, getting up and disappearing into a back room behind the bar.

From that Dud assumed the barman was one of those recipients of the bandit care package. That was disappointing but the bandit's normal robbery location was good enough information out of the tavern. A start anyways. "And what is your opinion of this bandit? A small town hero to you is she?" Dud asks lazily to the barman. He had a few more bites of fish to finish anyway so might as well ask the man.

"Folk here like her about as much as folk in Riverrun," The barman said, arms crossed. "What we like even less is people asking rude questions."

A satisfied grin appeared on Dud's face after hearing the response. "My apologies, Ser. I did not intend to be rude. You don't know anyone in town that has had contact with her do you? This Bandit must have some connection to this village." Dud continued. "Why else would she stay around here? She must know there is a bounty on her head."

"So far no one has caught her," The man responded, moving forward to take Dud's unfinished plate. "Neither will you, boy. We got enough on her hands with people getting robbed, we don't need strangers prying into our business."

Dud frowned. "I'll stop with the prying then." He said looking longingly at the lost fish. Dud stood up and stretched his arms out. "Room here still fine?" Dud asked

"Long as you keep your questions to yourself," The man responded. "Plenty of us been robbed by Ella herself you know."

Dud shrugged. "Just tryin to help, Ser." He left it at that and got a room at the inn. He slept with one eye open and his sword by his side, not really trusting the villagers not to let Ella the bandit know about his being there.
As long as the night went well, he'd head out towards the western mountains in the morning.

It was in the middle of the night that Dud heard the floorboards outside his room creak. A moment later his door was pushed open very slowly, a dark shape inching into the room.
