Creed Humble looks about with distaste. He had enjoyed seeing the remnants of the massive fleet action, though. "Dragons can fight...but they can't decorate worth a damn."

"Why don't you like it?" Reyna asked. "It looks fine to me. And we're in a strange country, anyway. It was never going to be like an inn at Lordsport or Lannisport or anywhere."

"What do we need different for?" He shrugs as they head to their rooms. "Though I hear these hot water pumps are something special."

"Oh? I look forward to trying those," she said, a little saddened that he wasn't interested in experiencing a different culture.
When she wasi n her room. she looked all around and, if there was a window, looked through it.

There's an enormous window, really too big for security conscious individuals, and she can see the Great Pyramid and many of the slightly smaller but still vast sister pyramids. She has an enormously comfortable-looking bed and plenty of chairs and tables and wine and cushions.

Reyna thought somewhat longingly of Fyodor, wishing they could openly take advantage of the bed. For now though, she lay down and stretched herself out with a sigh.

Reyna sends word to Fyodor before he's scheduled to leave Meeren. She felt that he deserved to know what had happened with the king.

Fyodor arrives, looking ready to travel. "Yes, love?"

She closed the door behind him.
"Fyodor, we may be in trouble. I spoke to the dragon king to discuss the terms of an alliance between the Iron Islands and New Valyria because I felt it's the one thing that could silence my father on the matter of our marriage. King Euric has no kin of suitable age to marry the Targaryens so I suggested my sister. But King Sirius asked me to marry him to fulfill the alliance! But you and I are already wed, so I cannot agree to his terms. But I don't think he will give me the alliance otherwise."
She sighed and ran a hand through her usually immaculate hair, messing it up. She was very obviously worried.
"But I cannot go back to the Iron Islands to seek my father's blessing without that alliance. I do not love the Iron Islands, but I had always thought I would be free to go there if I wished. But now...I fear I must consider myself exiled. I must go wherever you go and put all thoughts of my family aside. I may never see them again."

Dustin makes a face. "Then we'd better leave soon. Kalvin is already ready to cut King Sirius's head off."

She looked at him with an anxious expression.
"Is he? Why is that? Will your kin accept me?"

"They're going to have to. From what I gathered, in his absence the king may have taken some liberties with his woman." Fyodor shrugs. "I accept you. They'll follow, I'm sure."

"I'm doomed if they don't," she said, very quietly. "Gods...it's as well I made my escape then. The king was courteous enough, to me, but I didn't quite trust everything he said. It's to be hoped the North will bring me luck."

"Maybe you'll bring the North luck," he says with a grin. He kisses her quickly. "Hurry up and pack."
