He sighed, then shook his head. "Bandits are the least of my worries, a new drug has exploded onto the market. It makes men move and think faster than imagined "and then kills them." He looked around,"Do you have the levy count for Highgarden, or what's left of it."

Swyft shrugs. "Three, maybe four thousand. Couldn't feed that many with the burnt out crops though. Going to need a harvest and damned soon if starvation is to be prevented."

He shook his head and rasped,"I don't need four thousand. Possibly a thousand to augment my own troops, but you are correct, we need a harvest." He nodded towards the keep,"would you be willing to show me a map and point me towards the bandit hotspots?"

"The whole damn region," he said. "Poverty and war left thousands homeless, and the brigands have come from both the newly homeless and from outsiders seeking opportunity. I wouldn't trust no levies from here, myself."

Maekar groans and turns to his sister, the guards and servants having already dispersed. "Go tell the maester to send a raven to Little Ivy, I need 500 mounted men." He turned back to Swyft,"We need to start feeding the peasants and finding the homeless shelter, food and jobs."
OOC: What is my levy count for my lands?

Probably about 1000, but you have a ton dead too.
The men nod and ride off. "Going to be expensive," he observes.

He shouted after the man,"Make it two hundred even." He turned back to Swyft,"That should be enough to run off any would be brigand and not cost me a fortunate." He coughed a laugh after that, and then continued. "I'll need ten carpenters, ten stone masons and ten of your most loyal guardsmen. If I'm to restore order, I'll need to reward due diligence with an upgrade to small lord. We have tower keeps to build and houses to repair."

The men are provided. Swyft looks about. "Biggest band of troublemakers are at an old sept about a day's ride away. Some old sparrows running about."

OOC: One day is two weeks if I remember correctly, so if it's cool I'll just jump ahead by a week.
Maekar thanks Swyft and spends the next week planning on how to deal with the bandits in the area.
////////////
Half a fort night later Maekar sends Rya back to Little Ivy with the household guard and takes the two hundred riders towards the sept.

The sept is fortified now, and the young lord sees a dozen or so men watching him with crossbows. The men with Maekar look about. The renegades have a sort of refugee camp outside the walls.
