"Then I could be rid of two nuisances at once." Oriax said sharply, before asking a passing guardsman the location of Bolton.
Malix responded with a lascivious grin to Danya, before saying in broken Common "Tiny blade no cut tree." He flexed his thick forearms then. During his time in the pits, nobles had paid exorbitant sums for his company and masters had often awarded him with companionship for victories.

Ami giggled again. "And here I thought you'd finally grown attached to me! But no, let us find Malryas Bolton."
Danya shrugged, unimpressed by the mans size or reputation. "I'll just have to cut for longer."

The group is sent to a small windowless house. Malryas Bolton sits behind a oak table and a glass of good wine is poured for everyone. "I assume this isn't a social call, Amelia?"

Ami smiled at the man who had been her former mentor and for a moment she wondered if the man thought she was a disappointment.
"Unfortunately not, Malryas," Amelia said, taking a seat and sipping on her wine. Danya remained standing behind the girl. "This is Oriax of the Sh-oh you already know that." She grinned. "We come regarding the strange magical goings on."

Oriax took a seat, ignoring the offered wine. He found these Westerosi vintages tasted of vinegar in comparison to the vintages of the Jade Sea. He allowed Amelia to speak on his behalf, as was often done in such situations. The less words he had to exchange with these upjumped apes, the better. Besides, the silence allowed him to retain some of his enigmatic airs.

Malryas nods with some small reluctance. "Cassadar and Harrys Snow's deaths should have heralded the end of the supernatural threats facing our kingdom. Regrettably, this is not so." He puts a small bag on the table. Opening it, he pours a very tiny amount of a reddish powder on the smooth surface. "Meet our new threat."

"Our threat is... powder?" Amelia asked, staring down at the stuff. She crossed her legs and drank deeply from her wine. "What does it do? And where has it come from?"

Oriax leans close to study the substance, hoping it would have as much promise as the weirwood sap.

It looks like paprika. Malryas nods. "Our agents found this in a storehouse in King's Landing. A dozen men lay dead around it." He sipped his wine. "They killed each other to get it. With their bare hands."

Ami's eyes widening, wondering what on earth the stuff did if it made men kill each other for it. "Is it... is it a spice?"

"Only if you wish to season death with it." Malryas shrugged. "None of us will try it. The storehouse had a dozen men in it and no weapons. What does that tell you?"

Amelia frowned, turning to Oriax to see what he had to say.

"And what makes you suspect it to be arcane in origin?" Oriax inquired, speaking finally. "I have seen desperate men kill for drink in this barbaric land, but it does not require a sorcerer to concoct. Could it not be a simple poison?"
He considered if any of the poisons he knew of had such properties.

"Well, that is the thing, Master Oriax." Malryas gestures. "There doesn't seem to be anything about it at all. I gave some to a convicted rapist and he didn't seem to be fazed by it in any way."

"Curious." the sorcerer remarked. "Though I fail to see how it concerns the North, if it was found in a storehouse in the Kingslands."
