When the lord leaves, Euric's scowl returns. "Anyway, supposedly the wolfling killed her. Or let her die, or sacrificed her to a tree, or something."

"The Lannister wench? That's...odd. They've strange gods, though. Perhaps the trees like human sacrifice," Ragnar mused. "Is it common knowledge yet?"

"Getting more so. That girl supposedly was the sweetest cunny this side of the Narrow Sea." He got an evil grin, then. "Old Kyle won't be happy. We might see some pickings, soon."

Ragnar folded his arms across his chest.
"It's to be war between the North and the Goldlands, then? That's only to our advantage, it seems. Is there anything we can do to hasten matters along?"

"No idea, yet. The two haven't left that castle though, so there's bound to be words brewing...and when kings have words kingdoms have swords." Euric considered the other matter. "No...even if we didn't do this last thing...everyone's guard'll be up now. We'll play rabbit here, win their silly melee and bash some heads in, learn what we can, and prepare our next move from the safety of the fleet. I dislike being this far from water."

"Aye, me too. But it's either stay here or sail off and be branded guilty. In the meantime, I have a notion. I presume Mason Keep has a maester?"

"If the wolfling didn't kill him too, maybe," Euric chuckled.

"I'm of a mind to visit him," Ragnar admitted. "I found something curious after my fight with the Limper and his minions. Recognise this?"
He showed the king the strange token he'd picked up after the fight.

"It's a coin. Iron, at that." Euric suddenly frowns. "That does seem familiar, for some reason."

Ragnar tried to remember anything he'd heard about iron outside of their own lands.
"Don't they mine in the North? Or...there's the Iron Bank, of Braavos."
He toyed with the coin.
"I thought the maester might know."

"Braavos! That's it! It's definitely Braavosi. Yes, talk to the maester...if he doesn't know, those damned wolves have a Braavosi ambassador at their camp; they trade with them a lot and that damnable admiral of theirs." Euric is interested now, for Braavos's fleet was the only one that could outmatch the Iron Fleet in a fleet action.

"I'll find out what it is," Ragnar vowed. "Could be interesting, then, if Braavos has a stake in whatever's happening."

"Indeed. If the Free Cities are involved, well, all bets are off. Could you imagine sacking Lys or Myr or Pentos?" Euric shuddered in pleasure.

Ragnar grinned.
"I could. Perhaps if they go to the aid of the North, their ports would be nicely unguarded."

"Perhaps, though sailing around the Arbor in any circumstance is dicey, much less should they be on a war footing. One day, though, they shall know the terror of a true Ironborn raid, as we did in the old days, when we could reave free to Ibben if we wanted." Euric has a slightly faraway look in his eyes as he speaks.
