ooc: Harrenhal. The field of Fire was where King Gardner burned.
"Only the Drowned god can return us to those days, Lord Ragnar. And he will not do so if we stick with half measures of fealty. You do not reward your men for fighting half a battle." Hannah smiled and touched his chest. "Why should he?'

OOC - oops. I was thinking the Field of Fire was outside Harrenhal for some reason...But you know what I meant His fingers enclosed hers and held them firm. "True enough. But He gives nothing to those who do not seek it. I am sure of that. So perhaps you and I do not think so differently after all. And yet, I for one prefer to honour the Drowned God in battle, not prayer."

"I will not likely be fighting a battle in my life, so prayer and sacrifice are what I can offer." Hannah pulled his hand to her chest. "My heart beats saltwater and steel as well as yours does."

Ragnar nodded.
"Fine then. I will speak to your lord father about the arrangements. I'll be back to claim your maidenhead soon after."

"I'll be ready to offer the Drowned God the sacrifice he deserves, then."

"Of course. Good day."
He touched her cheek then turned and walked back to her father.
"I'll take the girl," he informed Blacktyde.

Lord Gowen chuckles. "Of course you will. What true Ironborn wouldn't?" He inspected the warrior lord. "She is very devout, you know. She drowned the true way; caught in a current when she was seven. But our god had mercy, and she is among us still."

"That explains it. She has asked me for a gift. I will return with it, likely on the morrow. When is the wedding likely to be?"

"When we get back; no sense in marrying in this forsaken land." Lord Gowen chuckled as his young wife gave him some wine. "You will not regret your decision, my lord."

"I am sure I will not," Ragnar agreed. "You will let me know if there's anything else that needs to be done regarding the arrangements?"

"Of course, Lord Ragnar." He chuckled in his creepy old man voice. "I assume her opinion on her sisters' choices in men was...less than enthused?"

"Indeed. Why is that? ARe they as bad as she claims?"

"Of course! My eldest two had the real Ironborn, but they both died reaving, like good men, before either of them had a son. I decided to try legitimizing my bastards to encourage a bit of competitive spirit among them to find a man, but they all stampeded about in a little slut-off instead. Now I have six grandsons and not a man among them." He rolled his eyes. "This does not please my youngest one much, I tell you."

"AH, well and good. Hannah implied that the man who weds her may one day become your heir. I'd be a liar if I said that didn't interest me. But a man with your holdings needs to know they will go to someone who can protect them."

"Exactly." He shrugged. "Which is why I am leaving my lands to the strongest."
