Where the High Septon holds services. The truly devout among the faithful are encouraged to travel to Summerhall at least once. It is a well-built but not ostentatious stone building, where inside the seven marvelously carved statues of the gods are located. Guarded day and night by rotating seven-man shifts of knights known as the Shields of Summerhall.

Septon Tomas arrives at Summerhall, pausing on the steps to pay the three men who had served as his guards on the journey north; the silver disappeared from sight almost before his hand had opened and then they dispersed into the crowds.
He made his way up the Sept's steps, and into the building, seeking His High Holiness the High Septon.

The High Septon is recovering from his journey, no longer the spry man who had travelled all seven of the kingdoms in his use. He invites his old companion up for cold milk and bread on the terrace overlooking the vast gardens of the former vacation palace.

Septon Tomas arrives at the terrace, bowing to the High Septon. "Your High Holiness," he murmured softly. "I have heard many troubling things on the road."

"Speak, then Tomas; troubling news is becoming the story of our life, is it not?" he says with a slight, almost unnoticeable smile.

"Lord Yronwood told me in a letter that men of the Red God with the name of the Seven on their lips worked some black magic to raise the dead inside a sept near Mason's Keep. On the road I've heard rumors that the Starks turned into wolves and raped half a dozen noblewomen and murdered the Sword of the Morning; that the Sword of the Morning was killed in a duel over some girl's hand, that the Goldlands and Kingsland and Dorne are all readying for war, that the Ironmen are raping and pillaging all along the western coast. More than half of it must be a great pile of slop, but it is good to walk amongst the people to hear what passes from one tongue to the next. Still, it is better to hear about what truly happened, from someone who was present," Septon Tomas added with a wry chuckle.
"Lord Yronwood hates the Stormlanders fervently and for personal reasons, but he is a true son of the Faith and I lend weight to his belief that the Red Priests are somehow behind the unnatural demons that were raised in Masonton. He will move against Blackhaven before too long I think; the threat of Starfall rebelling in the Marches stays his hand for now."

"Unnatural sorcery was used at a sept, and indeed, the wolves slew Ser Markus. As to war, well, then I do not know, that is for the kings to decide. Lord Bryce Dayne calls his banners to an end none may know, I hear, but even the faithful to not spy in his lands often." Warryn says. "Lord Oberyn is a faithful man, but his personal hatred may blind him to the bigger picture. Time will tell."

"I counsel him to caution, but sometimes there is no voice he hears save the Stranger's, whispering for vengeance. I also heard that there was a delegation from New Valyria at Mason's Keep; that is a rather interesting piece of news, if there is truth to it, Your High Holiness," he replied, arching one eyebrow in a questioning manner that the High Septon well remembered from their years as Traveling Brothers.

"Indeed, the Prince of Yunkai himself. Quite an interesting fellow, all told. Ser Ghaston knighted him on the eve of their departure."

"I thought to travel east to see this New Valyria, and perhaps on the way learn what I can about the source of this monstrous corruption that infests our land," the Septon replied, his eyes taking on a fierce gleam. "It would do well to have someone teaching of the Seven at the Prince's court, if he is a follower of the True Gods then we must have a presence to assist in the spreading their influence from him to his people."

"Indeed. Go forth, Septon Tomas. and spread the word. One of Ser Ghaston's man is preceding you." The elderly man nods. "Seek out the source of this vile magic."

"If you can spare them, Your High Holiness, I would request an escort of Warrior's Sons; the Warrior's strength will undoubtedly be needed along the road again," he said after a short pause, bowing his head piously for a moment, and then he looked up, meeting the High Septon's eyes. Both men knew well that, besides being a deterrent to band its or pirates, a strong escort of knights in their shining silvered armor would do much to further the appearance of the Faith's strength in the eyes of those to whom they meant to preach.

"You'll have twenty knights, Septon." Ghaston spoke up, glad to see a familiar face. "That should be more than enough for your purposes."

"You have my thanks, Ser Ghaston. I don't know who would molest an old man of the cloth, but we live in dangerous times," he said with a smile that slowly faded. "Will it be trouble for us to get to the coast? I doubt the heathen Stormlanders have much love for the Warrior's Sons."

"If they still value peace I doubt they will trouble you." Ghaston replied, though with some reservation. "If any harm befalls you or your escort they will see their fires quenched."
