For anyone who watched hannibal, I think we know how Dr. Lecter put himself through med school.

I need someone to explain to me what a VAT is.

Vat is value added tax. It is something automatically added to luxury items in the uk. Like how in America, you need to add tax onto the marked price of some items, VAT is already added to the marked price, so you'd never even know

It's actually called V.A.T.S and it stands for Vault-Tec Assisted Targeting System. Ignore the redcoat.

What Robyn said. The definition of "luxury" items is a bit odd. For example, feminine hygiene products somehow count as a luxury! Books never used to have VAT but I'm not sure if that's still true.

That's changing now, Marie. Tampon tax is over!
Feminine hygiene products we need for you know, being born women were taxed, but crocodile meat... Helicopter, they're "non luxury"

Thanks, Robyn. I heard rumours but I wasn't sure if it was definitely happening. Finally! But the example proves just how twisted the system is. It was the most ridiculous one I could think of. And yet when the issue of feminine products was first raised, I read that men's razors are not considered luxury items.

Razors and things like that are a whole different argument entirely. Seeing as women are charged more for exactly the same products :/

Yeah, that too. Being born female=pay more for stuff We as a gender should probably reject the system and buy the male-orientated products where relevant but it's not easy when you've internalised the habit at looking at the shelves designated for women's products.

Just using men's razors... Is not the point :/ the problem is that they cost different monies in the first place.
