Pol nodded, at the moment it seemed like the King's request was less costly than what the Volantenes had presented. But the question concerned him if the King's mother was insane, would he himself fall into the same condition. "Braavos does have a respectable leader on the seas." Pol commented, "It is good that he is on your side for sure. I see what Braavos will gain from your alliance, but what will us Westerosi gain."

"A fair question, Prince Greyjoy." King Sirius slid a piece of paper with a seal on it to Prince Pol. "The Hegemon and Cities have been soliciting aid from plenty of other kingdoms...and even factions in those kingdoms. Including yours."

"I'd expect it," Pol said taking the paper to read it. "You have to do what you can to win," he said as he continued to look at the letter.

The letter claims to have been written by Emperor Dralen of the Hegemon, offering the recipient of the letter aid to acquire lordship of his domain in exchange for his aid to the Ghiscari war on the dragon. It is not addressed to a named individual.

"Whoever this was for would be a fool to accept," the ironborn were st rongest when united under one king, not battling amongst themselves. Any threat to the peace was a concern to Pol and he grumbled audibly. He waved the letter for everyone else, "Just remember everyone has their own Other in a closet." He turned to look at the King, "You have made some good points but I think there is one more thing that most are thinking about. Us Westerosi love marriages. Except my friend, but that's another story."

King Sirius nodded. "Of course you do. Blood ties stronger than paper."

Pol drank, ate, and used the opportunity to think some more. He tried to gauge the looks of Celtigar and the Reachman Admiral who were audibly for an alliance with Volantis. "And if we don't all agree to help one side over an other, things will get even messier."

Bolton nods. "Yes, Westeros should unite on the issue. One way or the other." He sips a glass of wine. "King Sirius, we Westerosi must confer on what we've seen, if you don't mind?" The king wves his hand.
"Of course not! You are my honored guests."

Pol gives his thanks and nods to the king and his two silent advisers. "What do you think Bolton?"

The ambassadors leave the room and head to the wide open balcony to keep prying eyes away. Celtigar speaks first, his monotone, humorless voice low. "A mad queen and a dragon even bigger than the one the Ghiscari slew. Fickle allies, I think."

Pol nodded, "Potentially volatile allies, though dangerous enemies as well. The dragon will outlive the queen in any case. Maybe she isn't interested in Westeros." Pol suggested.

"Maybe she isn't sane, and her whims will take her where they will." Celtigar looked to where the great black dragon had been. "Three of those conquered Westeros once, and I don't think any were as big as that one."

"But the king is sane and he is in control, not the Queen. There was three, and now there is only one. The King realizes that the dragons are not invincible." Pol rubbed his beard in contemplation. "We don't fully know this Queen."

"Then I say we withhold judgment until we learn more. It is no secret I follow the Red God, but even I admit this dragon king seems able. I cannot risk a dragon arriving on our shores, though. Dragonstone was so named for a reason." Celtigar's thick black mustache and beard almost completely cover his mouth even while he speaks, and his polished dragonglass ornamental sword is visible above the top of the hilt, twinkling as he talks in the fire light. Selyse Qorgyle frowns.
"If we wait too long, our decision is made for us, by fire and sword."

Pol shrugs, "Siding with the dragon is the bigger risk. But doing nothing is also risky. What do you propose Lady Selyse?"
