Rowan enjoys the drink a lot more than they thought they would. As they nibble on a portion of the bird they snicker at the dead rookie bit 'i has lots of experiance popping heads.. its my other best favorite thing to do.. theres few things better than brains squelching as a skull shatters.' Rowan grins happily.

Everyone chuckles at that. "Well, these skulls squelch a bit harder," Alex promised. "We keep our eyes and ears open for ambush and we'll be fine."
The evening passes without further incident as the party dies down. "Get some sleep rookie, we're all gonna need every moment of it," Dirty Dan said. "Every damned second."

Rowan bids them all good night 'sleepings easy.. cracking heads is better.' They say with a smile and is their habit curls up some place and quickly falls into a deep sleep cuddling their axes.

The next morning Rowan wakes up to hear people mobilizing. More Order knights and warriors are there than they had realized; at least three hundred, and Dirty Dan and Carolyn wave Rowan over. "Hurry up rookie! PAck that box up and get ready to move! The horses won't wait forever!"

Rowan gapes at the amount of people. Eeking at the yell at them they hop to, getting their tasks done.

The day is long, and as the army moves slowly along the river Rowan sees crocodiles nine meters long sunning themselves, hippopotami and more. The long column is sluggish in the heat but the predators are nocturnal and so the sun is deemed the safer risk. Carolyn rides next to Rowan and grins. "Never seen anywhere like this," she admitted. "I'm from Barrowton up in the North. Never been this damn hot in my life."

Rowan eyes the area around then speculativly. 'It sure is hot.. coldcreek was usually pretty cold in comparison.'

"Everywhere is cold pared to this fireball," Alex interjected. Rowan sees gigantic birds circling overhead. "They're just waiting to feast on our remains," he noted. "How promising."
Rowan is on foot, and the walk is difficult but bearable. They see the river splitting, each half very narrow, and the army stops. Carolyn frowned. "There was a bridge we built here three months ago," she said. "That's not a good sign." Rowan sees only traces of where the foundation of its pillars must have been, sand ad water claiming the rest.

Rowan frowns looking about for materials to make a simple droped and lashed log bridge perhaps so they can cross safely. 'Guess weh had better do summit about that then.'

Rowan and the others find a shallow place for a ford. "This won't be easy," Alex murmured as the Order began moving across. "Watch for poison snakes and...well, the river dragons. Not reaaaal dragons, but close the hell enough," he grumbled. Rowan sees armored men moving into the shallow waters, testing it as they move up.

Rowan unslings an axe and holds it ready. Moving enough away they wont cause friendly injury. Steping with cautiously but ready to run if needed.

Rowan crosses the river uneventfully, and ahead, now beyond the dunes on the other side, they see some sort of black stone road leading east now. It looks like dragon glass. "Only a day's ride now," Carolyn said. "Be on your guard rookie. They're coming tonight."

Rowan salutes with their axe as they trudge along. Watching out carefully for any kind of trouble.

Rowan sees the sands shift as they march, and as night begins to fall the camp is set up. Rows of sharpened stakes are laid out, very orderly, and the camp is walled in less than an hour with a small fence of the wood. "Tents in a row!" The overall commander calls out, and Rowan's tent is in the west corner, nearest the river, which is three miles away or so. Carolyn frowns as they set it up. "I hate this spot," she grumbled. "Too open."

Rowan cocks their head and eyes her as they both set up 'so.. why not group the tents so a small area to defend?'
