"Familiar enough," he remarked, scanning the deck as his companions climbed aboard. "Where'd you get the ship?"

"From the slavers," he said, "when the storms started they had to free us so the ship didn't capsize. We took it from there." He shrugged. "You don't look like a stranger to violence yourself." Someone tosses Kurts a loaf of bread.
"You hungry there?" The older woman said. "We got an oven down below, and lots of wheat."

"Violence and I are old friends," he replied, tearing off a hunk of bread and eating it, happy for some carbs after the dried beef, fruit, and fish. "The other ship yours as well? Where are you charting a course for?"

"No, the other ship was run by some old pirate lord, I think. He had his own way of doing things. We're heading to the Basilisk Isles, I think," he said, "we need somewhere where we can get new sails and a mast." A wave hits the ship from the island side. "And these giant wildlife monsters are best avoided."

"My companions here have some friends and connections in Gorgossos," Kiurts replied. "I'm certain they could help you find new sails and a mast there in exchange for passage."

Marlow frowns at Jonarth. "Was run by? Is it derelict, or did they take over as well?"

"The other ship's crew largely went ashore to seek food, I got the feeling their stores had been washed away. The natives took them, and then some others took the ship." He shrugged. "Such is life in Sothoryos. If Gorgossos has what we need," he said after a moment, "then I guess we plug our noses and prepare to enter the belly of the beast. It's quite a place."

"So I've heard," Kurts said, without much concern. "Let's get moving then."
