Abigail, Daven, and Rowan head south along the tree line, keeping silent. After a mile or so the sounds of the natives can no longer be heard, and the pirate, sweat pouring down his face from the heat, turns. "All right," he said, "we need to find a better place to hide out for now, until we can signal the ships and hope they pick us up." He looks about as bushes rustle. "Weapons out and eyes open..." He said quietly. "I doubt we'll be alone here for long."
Abigail sees what she swears is a dark skinned man peeking around a tree a moment, but a blink and the visage is gone.

"There!" She said, pointing to the trees. "I just saw a man! He looked like a Summer Islander!" She frowned when she failed to spot the man again. Evidently the man knew the jungle very well or perhaps her mind was just playing tricks on her. "I don't have a weapon but I will kick and punch anyone who opposes us," she said with a bit of steel in her voice.

Rowan watches carefully. They are on edge and tense. They pat Abigail reassuringly on the shoulder. 'So if weh manage to signal someone.. how weh know they wont kill, enslave, kèep us tah rape or yeh just sell us and get a new ship?' There is no menace in their voice but its plain Rowan could get nasty real quick if need be.

Abigail could barely make out what Rowan said and she shook her head. "We'll have to hope that we're lucky. Anything is better than this place right now..."

"We don't know," Daven said. "But we could be useful in a crew depleted by storms and war." As he talks, Rowan and Abigail see the trees rustle again and they hear a strange sound, a low moan like a dying man that rises to a threatening pitch. "Ape!" The pirate gasps out as he backs away.
The giant simian has a dozen spears sticking out of it as it crashes through the brush, seeming more angry than hurt. In truth, the blades seem to barely be leaving traces of blood through its skin. As it rampages, the trio hear sounds of human pursuers. "We need to move!"

"Oh gods!!!" Abigail screamed as she saw the beast so close to them. She turns about immediately and runs off as fast as she can, trying to pick a route that will cause the most difficulty to the big ape.

Abigail: 31 Rowan: 38 Daven: 67 Ape: 56 Pursuers: 41
The ape is much faster than the pair and barrels into them, Abigail being slammed into a tree and feeling the thud of her ribs slamming into the hard trunk. She doesn't feel any of them break. Rowan dives to a side and the simian's passage creates their own pain as a hand the size of a frying pan slaps them, sending the axeperson flying down a small ravine. Abigail starts recovering as she sees the somewhat distant tips of obsidian spears. It is possible she and Rowan can stay where they are, perfectly still, and use the thick overgrowth to hide them.

Abigail felt dazed when she was slammed into the tree, the air being knocked out of her. She lay on the ground for a long moment, struggling to catch her breath before finally pushing herself up. As soon as she spotted the spear tips she yelped and flung herself into a thick hedge, hoping it would be enough to hide her from the men.

Rowan groans in pain when they finally land. Seeing the spear tips when they peek out they wriggle into the deepest growth possible close to them heedless of thorns and part gagging themself with an arm so their breah doesnt stir leaves they breath as slowly and shallowly as possible to not disturb their hiding place. Rowan spares a thought for Abigail hoping shes had the sense to hide well also.

Footsteps run by both of them, and they hear alien voices speaking in a language they cannot understand. For long moments the hunting party sprints by, maybe a half dozen or so, and after a minute or so their sounds are swallowed up by the jungle's dense undergrowth. Both the survivors are healthy enough to move, albeit in some pain, and they are free to get up and move. For now there is no sign of Daven or anyone else.

Abigail waited in the bushes for a long, long time beyond when the footsteps were gone before finally getting up. "What now?" She said, looking around for any trace of the men, the ape or Daven.

She sees no sign of any of the three. As she looks about, from the direction the ape had come she sees what looks like a primitive road running farther into the jungle. She also notes that the sea is rather rough today, and there's no sign of anything else alive, which is a first for the loud jungle. Birds and animals are all silent, only the wind through the trees making the slightest hint of noise.
