Harwyn, torn between staying in the temple or getting away from whatever interest the natives had in it, begins moving his men through the streets. "We're not going to wait around and see what they're doing. Hide in the houses along the streets, and if they enter the city, kill them."

The men hide in houses, and Harwyn hears the drums continue. As he walks around the streets, arrows start landing about. The natives are getting rather more restless.

With the arrows starting to fall, Harwyn pulls his shield off of his back before motioning to his men. "Stormed God take them all, I'm not waiting any longer. Shields up, axes out! We're leaving this city."

Harwyn: 155/162
Natives: 89
Harwyn's disciplined force breaks through the native line, the stone arrows and spears doing little against his men's steel. They are more mobile, though, and most avoid any serious injury. They settle for pelting the host with rocks and arrows, causing some wounds but only a half dozen deaths.

Harwyn guides his men back to the village as they leave the city behind. If there is any conflict, it will be burned to the ground, but his first priority is to retrieve the men he left behind and return to the fort.

The village is still as it was, and his men join him swiftly enough. They report no disturbances.

When the group is back, Harwyn writes the report to send back to Tyrosh detailing his finds in Sothoryos, the various expeditions, and the status of their fort. The encounter with the natives are included, although little detail is given in the report. When he is done, Harwyn calls for his first mate to join him.

He arrives. "My lord?" he asks.

Harwyn pours one of the remaining bottles of brandy from Tyrosh into two glasses, offering him one. "Overall, how would you say things are going so far?"

"We're alive," he shrugged. "Good enough. We still don't have any clue what's really out there."

"That question will have to wait to be answered until Killion sends the next wave. With our fort established and contact made with the natives, I'm delivering my final report in person to the King. You will be left in command here until I return, while I will take half of the men back with me. The trust if the Iron Empire is being placed on you, and our future in this land. I will try to convince the king to send men as soon as possible."

"Yes, m'lord," he said. "I'll need a few ships for scouting and to retreat in the event that those giants fuck here," he said. "Being squashed by mating behemoths seems a poor end."

"We will leave two of the galleons with you. While the men ready to leave, we're going to lead a final expedition to try and find the resources we've heard so much about." Harwyn scratched at his beard for a moment, the normally unruly mess not even touched since their arrival. "Best have an answer for the king on the diamonds or gold before I arrive."

"We will," he promised. "We've seen the trading fleets; we know the resources are here. We'll find where."
