The scouting army moves east, foraging on the way. A few days east of the metropolis, Arthur and Harwyn's men encounter separate companies of sellswords, who swiftly retreat prior to making contact. Harwyn sees three hundred or so, Arthur half that.

Harwyn sends a smaller group of scouts ahead of the scouts to scout out the sellsword company, curious if they were part of a larger group or just.. scouts.
Scouting 52.

Round 1:
Arthur (+15): 136/141
Captain Reznak: 144/132
The Reach cavalry charge, but are hindered by the unfamiliar terrain, while the selsword cavalry are used to fleeing and firing and their horses are better built for the hot sun and long exchanges of arrow fire. Men on both sides fall, and after two or three miles Arthur sees that a much larger force is approaching from the east. He'd estimate the host at five thousand at first glance.

Seeing the far larger force, Arthur immediately orders a halt to the pursuit and a withdrawal to the main body where Hector was waiting for his report.

Having a few hours before the forces could meet, Nyles and Hector assemble the men into a long battle line, cavalry all massed on the left flank to sweep forward. The commanders are called in. Hector looks about. "This is why we brought so many men," he said drily. "Nyles recommends fighting right here, and I'm inclined to agree with him. They'll be tired after such a long march, if they have the stomach to fight in the first place."

Arthur gave a wry smile at Hector's words. "More of my Reachmen would have been useful." he remarked. "Too late for regrets though."
"You wish to try and make the enemy engage the infantry first and then attempt to outflank them with the cavalry?" he asked Hector. "Or do you have something different in mind?"

Harwyn gave a shrug to the assembled lords. "I agree that we should fight now, though I dislike having the cavalry under my command. The battle will be easy enough, regardless."

"Take the right, then, Lord Goodbrother," Hector said. "Arthur has the cavalry. General Karellian has the center. The right and left will advance and force their reserves up, then the cavalry will it their lines and roll them up. They aren't using massed pikes so there should be little impediment to a proper charge."
