"If Delila is pregnant, your sister has no claim," she replied, not caring at all whether he trusted her or not. "The Baratheons will look like invaders," she added, finding that aspect favourable, at least. "What is it you'd have me do then, protect 'your child' until he comes of age?"

"I'm doing this as a deal," he said. "Brynden is gone now. Getting rest in a place better than here. He asked me to make sure you knew what his wishes are. If she isn't pregnant...rule wisely and know they will come for you."

"He's gone?" she asked, her voice barely louder than a whisper, and looked incredibly sad for a moment. Then, her expression hardened. "And now that I know what they are, leave," she ordered quietly. "You've desecrated his body long enough."

He looked over and laid back and closed his eyes, and with not another sound the King of the Goldlands was no more.

Joanna waited for a while, leaned in and kissed the king's forehead, mentally saying a final prayer for him, though more of habit and tradition rather than faith. "I think one of you should call upon the queen now. I'm sure she would like to be here, despite whatever lies Crakehall just wrought," she said, looking at the guards and Hollis.

Hollis points to the guards. "I stay with you," he grumbled in his low tone. "Your Grace." The men go fetch Delila. She rushes to Brynden's side and hugs it in tears.
"He just wanted to be a good king...a good husband..." She cried.

Joanna stepped away and gave her a moment. "He was both of these things," she said, then realized she had no idea whether he had actually been a good husband. "Surely," she added, and put a hand on Delila's shoulder in an attempt to comfort her. "I am so sorry."
She waited for another while, thinking of how to best address this urgent matter they now had at hand. "Did you really seal yourself in your room just now, or was that.. Crakehall's doing?" she asked carefully.

"Crakehall," she grumbled. "I'm going to kill him." She shivered. "What happens...now?" She clutches her belly.

Joanna nodded slowly. "I assumed so. He will of course stand trial for all he's done. Now.. I heard you made a deal as well. Did it take?" she asked, with a hint of disapproval in her voice; her dislike of Grafton was not exactly unknown to the queen.

Delila stared at her for a second. "I did," she said. "Not that I had much choice. Brynden couldn't father a son himself, but he was more than able to with...him doing the heavy lifting." She sat on the edge of the bed and put her elbow on her knee and her chin in her hand. "I just wanted a son, to make his...end easier to bear. And he proved he had the strength to grant my request when he...met you," she said. "I'm not exactly proud of the decision, Joanna! I'm sure you've done things you aren't proud of too."

Yes, thought Joanna, though not as bad as this. She looked to the guards briefly, attempting to keep the weirdness of the conversation to a minimal. "Did it work?" she asked the queen directly. "Will you have an heir?"

"We will know in a month or so," she said. "I certainly hope it did. Either way,@ she said, "Brynden's wishes are clear."

She looked to the king, and back to the queen with an impeccable poker face. "Enlighten me. Are you perhaps speaking of the other will?"

No sense in a poker face of everyone has seen your cards. Delilah nods. "Yes," she said. "It is signed and valid as far as I can tell. And if I don't contest its validity then no one else can, save of course the ones in King's Landing."

"Then I suppose this is our best shot," she replied. "We are not giving our lands to the Baratheons."
