Fifty ships approach the docks of Reaver's Watch early in March, led by Harwyn Goodbrother and eager to spill dead blood. Assuming they had any blood left. One ship is sent ahead to ensure the port still has living occupants.

Ragnar had volunteered Serpent's Breath to be the scouting ship. He urged his nervous men onwards to check on the port. As they neared the shore, he kept an eye out for any other ships and their occupants, and took out a Myrish lens to examine the shoreline.

The shores are eerily empty, but smoke comes from the castle. The land is pitted and scarred. It looks like battle has been waged.

With smoke sighted from the castle, Harwyn orders the rest of the fleet forward and men to begin landing. An advance force of one hundred men are sent ahead to check the castle.

As they land, the men smell death all about, rotted flesh and everything they usually like, only not being done on their lands. The castle is visible from the sea, being on the coast, and the guard heads to the gates. Shouts are heard but Harwyn can't pick up words as they talk.

Ragnar moved his vessel into the dock and then he began to search the area, looking for signs of any survivors.

In the town there is none. It seems the castle or the hills inside the islands is more likely.

((Are the gates open or closed? If open, I'll edit. ))
Approaching the gates, Harwyn took a deep breath before using the voice every commander had to have. "My name is Harwyn Goodbrother, let us in so we may speak."

The gates open. The Pyke guards look haggard and their numbers are few.

Harwyn and the accompanying men enter, and orders are sent to have food and ale brought from the ships. "We heard about the dead. What happened here?"

"You just said you heard about the dead,@ the guard retorted. "It happened about six weeks ago. Ships crash landed all over the islands, cargo holds loaded with the dead. They ignored the forts and soldiers and went straight for the fields and mines. The fucking rangers shot our scouts with arrows and there were traitors spreading false word of safety here, the refugees were eaten alive by the horse," he shook his head. "The king took a thousand men on ships and he has been roving to destroy their transports, stop them from spreading, but it's been bloody as hell and we are running outta food."

Harwyn ignored the man's retort, intending to get the report and succeeding. "You and the others are welcome to join us on the ships. We're going to look for survivors here and then find and join the king. Have you seen any of the dead nearby recently?"

"No, they've been roving the islands seeking those in hiding,@ he said. "And their generals are taking every small fortress they find before they come for the main course."

Harwyn nodded. "Then we'll wipe them off of the island first. No point leaving just to come back and do it later."
Harwyn sends the order out for packs of scouts to be sent across the island, ten at a time, while others thoroughly search the town for survivors and clear away any corpses.

Scouting: 114 (+2)
Harwyn loses twenty men to the dead, but he finds a few dozen survivors hidden in the town and the streets are cleared. One small thing about fighting the living dead is that the area isn't littered with corpses, at least. Of course, that makes guessing the enemy numbers impossible, your scouts report that the interior of the island is alive with the sound of the corpses.
