Hector was with them, along with two dozen of the king's best crossbowmen/urban warfare specialists. The city seems to be under general control, but walking through it is clear the city isn't as active as it should be. Kane the guard and Thomas the manager are at the keep. They bow and Thomas speaks. "My prince, my lady, welcome back to Gulltown." Hector looks about the hall. He has been silent lately.

"How have things been in my absence?" Amelia asked, while Benjen sidled up to Hector. "What's wrong, brother? You seem quiet and pensive."

Hector waves Ben's concern off. "I'm fine," he said.
Thomas frowned a bit. "The crime lords have largely reclaimed the safe bits of the city. They received a massive influx of money not long ago and it is emboldening them." He pointed to a map. "We have here and the noble district and most of the docks and the markets, but the residential areas and a lot of the outskirts of town are no man's land. We heard the prince himself was coming though and that raised morale a lot. These men got some real killers they brought in."

"Do we know where they got their money from?" Amelia asked, sounding concerned, before Benjen spoke up. "What part of the city would be easiest to take back? We go in there hard and heavy and slaughter everyone that stands in their way. Then we leave a message."

"Whispers abound from the Goldlands to the Federation," he said. "We've had no luck tracking the money."
Kane looked to the prince. "The slums are their heartland," he said. "If those get cleaned out we can prove we do t fear them, but their swords men are real brutal types and we have no counter to some of their skills. Until now," he amended."

"Right then," Benjen said, sounding like he was ready to set off there and then. "I'll lead a squad into the slums, Hector will be with me. Amelia too, to provide some fire for when needed. We go in at night and surprise those bastards."

Kane nodded. "I can assemble sixty men, my prince. Sixty who can keep their mouths shut."

"Good, get the men ready," Benjen said. "The leaders will wake up tomorrow to find half their men dead or routed." He turned to Amelia and nodded and the lady of Gulltown made her way to her chambers. "Hector, you ready to dispense some death?"

Hector's eyes follow Amelia for half a second longer than necessary, then he snaps back and nods. "Yes, I'll unload my stuff and get ready," he said. "Be good to deal with these fucking slavers. They might be allied with the people who took Robyn," he added.

"I all likelihood they are," Benjen commented, before noticing Hector's glance. He chuckled and shook his head. "She's married, Hector, but I know. An enviable rear."

"Like that's ever stopped anyone else..." he muttered. "What's the plan?"

Benjen laughed. "It sure hasn't. Maybe after battle the two of you..." He grinned. "We go in all quiet and strike with a brutality they cannot fathom with. Quick and deadly, alley to alley."

Hector nodded. "Brutal. I can do brutal," he said. "I'm gonna take a nap, then. Kal always said best be rested before a fight because staying awake won't make a whit of difference beforehand."
