Nicholas laughed aloud at that. "They kill each other, Benjen. At their own fucking weddings. Them respecting you makes them MORE inclined to kill you first. And if Vhagus took you there, he had his own goals in mind." He frowned. "Maybe you liked him, too, just a little, and when the time comes to cut out his black heart with a sword, you'll stay your hand for just one heartbeat. He can destroy castles with just one heartbeat."

"The sellswords Nick, they're the ones who matter," Benjen responded. "We all know how much their loyalty is worth. As for Vhagus?" He shook his head. "No, I know what the man is. If anything, the men of the Order helped remind me. You know their aims, don't you?"

"My sister worked for them," he said patiently. "Janelle was my teenage fantasy while I was being raised." He shrugged. "Doesn't mean I agree with them. I think all that time in the jungle and dodging demons in Yeen did something to their minds. But," he added. "I've never known the woman to lie, either." He looked about. "Pentos is having civil war. I assume Lord Kalvin plans on retaking Dragonstone." Benjen heard shuffling inside the tent. "I'll be headed there to reclaim my family's estates." He looked to the tent door and shook his head. "Hopefully it doesn't take long."

"Kalvin will try retaking Dragonstone soon, yes," Benjen affirmed. "As for the Order... we might be needing their help with something completely different, but that is more Amelia's thinking." He leaned sideways slightly and looked at the tent. "And who might be in there with you?"

"A naked woman," Nick said. He leans in. "No one who is dangerous enough to worry about." He looked about. "Amelia? The thought of her among all those men of the Order..." he shuddered. "It's one way to make sure you don't fight Cedric Dayne. Again."

"It's only Queen Janelle she wishes to speak to, regarding certain events beyond the Wall. That damn powder that's showing up everywhere. As for Dayne, I'd be quite happy to not have to fight the man again." Benjen scratched his stubble and rolled his shoulders. "The sword. How is it coming along?"

Nick thought a moment. "Lord Dayne is gone," he said. "The Valyrian steel is complete. It is a rather fitting blade for a bored wandering sorcerer seeking to reclaim his family's fortunes," he said.

"Does it not dampen your own power?" Benjen asked, having been curious about that for a while. "Not that I want to keep you from what's in there." He pointed at the tent.

"I can control it," he said. "To an extent. I seldom use magic anyway. Always found the addiction to blood and various...magicky things to be unsettling from my own experience. It is an easy slide from me to Amelia, and an easier one from her to Bryce," he noted. "I hope she's doing well." He looked one final time at the tent. "She can wait."

"She has herself under control, somehow," Benjen commented. "She's free of that powder that she stupidly began to take." Shook his head and sighed. "I'll let you get back to your woman but... I'll come asking for that weapon when the time comes to face Vhagus."

"If it even works against him," Nick said. "He's become something much more than he ever was." He looked to Benjen. "But I'll be there, or the sword will." He rolled his shoulder like he was getting ready to spar. "Now, if you'll excuse me, even Dornish women don't stay horny forever. Or if they do, they kill you after you mate," he added.

Benjen actually laughed at that, about to leave but lingering for a moment. "Brother..." He raised his hand, as if to put it on Nick's shoulder, then waved it away. "Nothing." He shook his head and left.
He needed a drink.

//// After a few hours, Raven shows up outside the tent of Nick Snow with Jackson. Placing her hand against the tent flap, she was thinking against it but then knocked anyway before she changed her mind.
"If you're decent, I'd like to speak to you, Nick Snow..." As she waited, raven looked back at Jackson with a small grin.

From the sounds of it, he's decent at what he's doing. "Who is it?" he calls out in a very fake polite voice, reserved for what you'd tell your dog to lure him out from under the table so you can rub his nose in his own urine.

"Raven Snow, daughter of Lord Horace Umber. I would like to speak with you."
