Benjen nodded, remaining quiet for a moment. "My friend Amelia would like to speak to your queen, though a fair distance separates them. There have been certain events in Braavos that have made her worried."

"She will not have to go far," Symon said. "Queen Janelle is coming here."

"Coming here, hmm? That will be an interesting occasion for sure," Benjen stated. "I hope your intentions towards Ellaria are good."

Symon tapped a finger. "I am well aware of her family history," he said. "I take my family seriously." He thinks a moment and let's it drop. "Much as we will leave your family alone."

"Good," Benjen says with a nod as he drains his glass. "I have a singular way of dealing with people who hurt Ellaria. The people who kidnapped her in the Vale, the Vulture King, Bryce Dayne. All good examples."

Symon chuckled. "quite adventurous of you. I'm surprised you're not married to her," he said. "But I have nothing but good intentions for ell aria in specific and Dorne in general."

"I don't think a marriage between myself and Ellaria would have ever worked," Benjen commented, finding a new bottle to fill his cup with. "At some point I may have to test you in the yard, y'know, to see if you're good!"

Symon thinks on that first comment a long moment. "Well, I already know you are," he said. "I'm sure it can be arranged. Are you a gambling man?"

"Not to my knowledge, but I'll give anything a try," Benjen responded. "What's the game? And the wager?"

"No," he said. "Just curious. I do believe you harbor some distrust of me," he said. "I find it unfortunate. We have many of the same goals."

"When your banner depicts the corpses of the animal that my wife uses as her sigil it isn't hard to be mistrustful," Benjen responded. "I don't doubt your aims but..." He squints. "I don't believe killing the dragons is the only way."

Symon nods. "Sorcery isn't my area," he confesses. "Queen Janelle led us with vision and your elder gods' blessing through Dothoryos for three years before we could reach land where we could live. Your wife is a Stark," he said. "And the Targaryens are people. Dragons are recoil tiles, much like you do not condemn farmers for killing wolves who attack their flock."

"Nor do we condemn the wolves that roam free and take what they need," Benjen responded, a seriousness to his voice. "My wife will always be a dragon, no matter the name she bears now." He sipped from his drink. "Do not believe I am not pragmatic. I let Meghan Lannister fall to her death because I needed to do what I thought was the right thing."
He looks bitter for a moment. "If it is beyond doubt that the dragons need to die then they need to die. But I will look for alternatives."

"Good," Symon said. "And if you find them, the queen will be relieved. She knows how dangerous and potentially bloody this can get." He shrugs. "You let a woman die? That sounds more cruel than pragmatic."

"From an outside perspective perhaps," Benjen said, not wishing to relive that moment. "It was here, at Mason's Keep, four years ago. Meghan was... there was a likely chance she would have been my bride. It was between saving her or killing one of Cassadar's sorcerers."
He drinks deeply from his glass. "With recent revelations that decision has come back to haunt me. I am not a good man, Symon, but I'm trying very hard to do good."
