A black dragon flies to the Archon's palace after a few months of peace. The city is mostly rebuilt, but the other Free Cities have been banding together in alliance, and trade along the Narrow Sea is slowing to a crawl. Myr, Lys, and Volantis have allied with Norvos and Qohor to forma great federation of states that are dtermined on preventing the further expansion of Pentos and the Ironborn. Vhagus lands and barks at the guards, who allow him to enter. Uncharacteristically, he looks wounded, limping, a scar on his forehead.

The emperor is ushered into the throne room, where Prince Killion waits upon the dais. It seemed peace had worn down the lively Ironborn prince as war had Vhagus. The task of governing and finance was a new one for the reavers, one they had been ill-prepared for. Killion found himself wishing lately he had paid more attention during his instruction at the Arbor. He was fortunate to have his wife and Tyroshi merchant princes to give him a crash course, but the daily tedium had taken its toll. His brow was wrinkled from being what felt to be eternally furrowed. His eyes were strained from hours spent going over trade ledgers in candlelight. His skin was paler from lack of sun and even his scent was alien to him, lacking the comforting brine of the sea. He actually found himself envying his cousin's injuries, for at least they would signify an escape from this tedium.
"Welcome to Tyrosh, my friend." he said in greeting, making his way down the dais to offer his hand in warm embrace. "Had I known you were coming, I would have prepared a better reception."

"Drogon is swifter than any message," Vhagus said. He grimaced a bit. "Tyrosh seems to be doing well," he frowned. "The rest of the cities will pay for their embargoes in good time." He shook his head. "I have agreed to a truce with my family in Meereen," he said without further preamble. "Yi Ti has proven a whole different sort of enemy then anticipated." He looked about. "And sadly their threat is almost exclusively across the land." He smiles at Tessa. "But I see the little kraken is strong."
OOc: you had a boy! Congrats!

"Aye, through no small effort we've had to learn a few new tricks." Killion replied with a tired sigh, the weight of actual rule heavy. Gone were the days of free reaving wherever the heart desired, replaced with concern for alliances and policing what trade routes remained. "But we've a monopoly and Arbor wine and Tyroshi dyes. Merchants only clamor more for what their rulers deny them and smugglers are in no short supply."
"Then it seems we can all have peace again, with you and I in a far stronger position than we started in. Dull ,but necessary I suppose."
He smiled warmly at his wife and young son, wondering what sort of world he would grow up in. The Ironborn would not be the same.
OOC: The little pink squishy have a name? If not, I vote Kargan!

Vhagus shrugged. "Peace indeed for now. Prince Benjen is even fighting the barbarians with me for a time. Should be...enlightening, seeing what makes him so damned hard for these rivals of mine to kill." He rolled his neck. "Monopolies are well and good, but if your lords cannot meet the old Redwyne supply of wine then much credibility will be lost. Your raiders are uniquely unsuited for such tasks. Not all are worthy of a dragon wife, naturally." He shook his head. "Peace for now unless you possess the strength and will to war alone. I can spare nothing at the moment save some financial assistants. Try to see your men don't gang rape them for being...delicate," he chuckled.

"You fighting side by side with Stark." Killion remarked, surprised and amused. "Not an event I ever thought would come to pass, but strange times make strange bedfellows."
"I left my uncle Pol in charge of the Arbor for that exact reason, but you are not wrong, my people are ill suited to our new place in the world." he admitted. "Your advisers will be appreciated. I am certain my wife has become exasperated with tutoring me on the finer points of financial management and the Tyroshi merchants seem too afraid to correct me. I will ensure their safety upon pain of death."

"Good," he said. "Let's drink. I need some of that good Arbor red." He looks about. "Unless you want to come easy as well," he said. "Swords rust slower than skills, I hear," he challenged.

"I acquired an exotic wine in Sothoryos as well that I must insist you try." he agreed, sending a servant to fetch the drinks. "You did not tell me you had acquaintances there. A rather eccentric bunch, truth be told, but formidable."
"I do not think I have ever killed a man from Yi Ti." he mused, with his sharkish grin. "Nor do I think I could resist such a prospect."

"Good then you shall have fun," he said. "I had thought those fools had cannibalized themselves ages ago. Formidable, you say?" He snorted. "King Terrence always did know how to hire the best."

"Formidable enough to survive in that land so long and forge a proper kingdom." he replied. "I would deal with them sooner rather than later. They seem to have a bone to pick with you and yours."

"Oh enemies of small numbers can be handled later. I face millions right now." He smiled. "Besides, the wolves have a little dragon too. And they are ever so much closer and weaker than I."

"Still no love lost between you then." he laughed. "Aye, see to your priorities. Best batten down against the tsunami before you concern yourself with the leaky hull."

"Just the two of us then?" he asked with a smirk, doing his best to hide the pit in his stomach that had formed at the thought of flying. "Good, we will have time to bond before battle."
